Some come to Leipzig for opera, others for its impressive zoo, but the riders come to Leipzig as a departure point in their route to Potsdam just outside Berlin. Potsdam is another centre of research, science and has a historical relevant and currently active film industry. This stage is another characterised by hills on the northerly route taking the riders in a fairly direct route to Potsdam. After 8 stages, the riders will not be at their freshest nor teams at their strongest, but the battle of attrition must continue with this stage contributing important points to the sprint competition.
