Kortrijk - Poperinge is a hilly 1-day race in the Province of West Flanders, where people speak a dialect only locals understand. The race starts in Kortrijk, the third biggest city in the Province. The riders go westwards and the first kilometers of the race are flat. When the riders reach Ypres, where they'll ride underneath the Menin Gate, the real party can start.

After leaving Ypres, the riders go southwards to a municipality called 'Heuvelland', which can be litteraly translated as 'Hilly-country'. Here, the riders face 2 laps with 5 hills per lap. The riders will have to conquer the Monteberg, the Rodeberg, the Vidaigneberg, the Scherpenberg and the Zwarteberg twice. The highest one is just 136 meters high, however, the sequence of hills will make it very hard! No cobbles today, and that means no Kemmelberg. The Kemmelberg, the highest and most (in)famous hill in the region is not a part of the course. Some riders are happy with it, but real men think it's a shame.

After the hills are conquered, the peloton will most likely explode and the riders go straight to the Poperinge, where the race ends. The best hillers will try to escape or will target a sprint with a little group.
