The race starts and finishes in Judenburg, a charming town known for its medieval architecture and the iconic Judenburg Tower. Riders roll out from the town square, greeted by an enthusiastic crowd, before heading into the surrounding hills.
The course immediately introduces the peloton to the Alpine terrain, with short climbs and narrow roads that demand constant focus. The middle section of the race is defined by a series of challenging ascents and descents, where positioning and bike-handling skills become crucial.
Gaberl Pass (8 km, 6.5% average gradient) is the first major climb of the day, this ascent is long and steady, featuring tight hairpins. It provides an early opportunity for climbers to test their legs and for the peloton to stretch out.
Seetal Climb (5.2 km, 7% average gradient) is a shorter but steeper climb that comes midway through the race. The narrow road and sharp switchbacks demand technical expertise.
Granitzenberg (4.8 km, 8% average gradient) comes next and is one of the most decisive sections of the race, featuring gradients that exceed 12% in some sections. The climb is followed by a fast, technical descent where gaps can open.
The final portion of the race features two laps of a rolling circuit around Judenburg. It includes the Murtal Ramp (2.3 km, 7.5%), a short climb with sharp corners leading into the town. Riders will need to balance power with precision as they fight for position before the sprint to the finish.
With its unique mix of climbing and technical descents the Judenburg Alpine Classic promises an action-packed day of racing that will test every facet of a rider’s ability.
