Hengelo - Hengelo can be seen as the borderline between amateur cycling and the real thing: Being a professional cyclist. This division 10 race is more a local party than it is a sports event. Around locals, this race is also called 'The Night of Hengelo'. The race starts at 5:40 AM local time and the spectators are mostly drunk.

For the riders however, this race is just part of their job, and they have to focus to bring home the victory. The track from the Night of Hengelo brings the riders straight through the city centre on a thirteen-round criterium. Throughout the track there are three places for the spectators to cross the tracks. The inside part of the racing area is neatly organised in a small market where the spectators can get some drinks and something to eat.

As the remaining laps are counting down though, the spectators will more and more get into it. And for the riders who are capable of following a very high pace through a route with a lot of bends and curves, there is an interesting sprint ahead. Whoever the winner of this nightly event will be, he can expect a very exciting and very drunk crowd to chant his name. Maybe some of the riders will even stick along afterwards to join the people in what should be a great party every edition.
