The first part is flat along the fjord, but the riders don’t have to wait long for the first challenge of the day. When reaching Aurland the route heads up to the mountains and follows Bjørgavegen to Lærdal.
Early in the season it is only days since the road opened after a long and hard winter. The riders can expect several meters of snow on the side of the road that is nicknamed the “Snow Road”.
The first climb is 16k long and takes the riders from sea level to 1,306 m at its highest point. Halfway in the climb, Stegastein is passed. From the viewpoint, it offers a 650 m drop to the fjord below and panoramic views for visitors with more time than the riders.
After completing the Snow Road to Lærdal, the riders follow the scenic route to Hemsedal with mountains peaks on all sides. The last climb of the day is from the bottom of the Hemsedal ski resort to Skarsnuten hotel. At an average gradient of 10% the strongest rider of the day should come away with the victory.
The evening ends at Stavkroa, well known to host one of the World’s craziest après-skis
throughout the winter. This night it is reserved for cycling fans and riders alike.

Description
The terrain in Hemsedal GP includes many hard climbs and has very hard downhills. The terrain hardly includes any hills and has no flat distances. The stage ends on a tough climb. The finishing climb gets steep from time to time. The route isn't technical at all.
