While the other of the two big sprinting classics in OCM, Norwich – London, breathes history, this one takes place in and around Helsinki, Finland’s relatively young capital city. It’s only 179 kilometers long, giving the sprinters the perfect possibility to get this win on their palmares. While Norwich – London is made more for those who love technical finals, Helsinki GP is made more for the allrounders among the sprinters.

The race starts in front of one of the most well-known buildings of the city, its cathedral on the Senate Square. Driving north through the centre, first a tour of 100 kilometer through the suburbs and the many forests around Helsinki has to be taken. After 110 kilometer, the finish line will be crossed for the first time, before doing some local tours through the city itself.

This tour passes along some of Helsinki’s most famous places, like the harbour and its great markets, and the beautiful Uspenski Cathedral. Passing two long bridges connecting several of Helsinki’s islands, the wind might play an important role during the very last kilometers. The finish will be along the famous Kauppatori Market after a last straight line of 800 meters. The perfect place for the best sprinters of the OCM world to show themselves, and get one of their biggest victories of their careers.
