After the start, the peloton passes the Halifax Citadel, one of the landmarks of the city. Heading southwest, the riders leave the city behind and are soon riding alongside the Atlantic again.
The peloton passes Peggy's Cove, the most famous lighthouse on the eastern coast of Canada. Following the narrow streets close to the sea, the riders do not encounter many obstacles on the way back to Halifax. Before they re-enter the city they take a detour through Sackville and Dartmouth.
The teams with the top sprinters have to be in front of the peloton as it crosses the Angus L. Macdonald to get back into Halifax with only a few hundred meters left. The finish will most likely be a sprint on the waterfront of Halifax, and the winner will be a pure sprinter with a strong leadout team.

Description
The terrain in Halifax Grand Prix has no climbs and has only easy downhills. The terrain has no hills and has an amount of average flat distances. The ending of the stage is an easy sprint terminated by the fastest rider in the leading group. The route demands a bit of technique from the riders.
