Still, Beja is one of those cities that stands strong against it with its population of around 36k people.
And it is right on this deadly scenario that GP-Beja takes place. The organizers availed this feeling and created a circuit race including many super steep hills to make this a very hard race to conquer.
Its 93 km are divided into 2 laps including 4 hills. The first one is placed just 10 km into the race. The "Cabeça Gorda" hill is 3 km long at 8%. Fallowing that hill, we have the "Serpa" with 4 km at 15%. This is the hardest climb but since it is place near the "Guadiana" river, it is a relief for the riders to finally feel some fresher legs. After this, we’ll have a long flat road into the final part of the race.
The penultimate hill is placed just 10 km to the finish line. It's the “Baleizão” climb with 6 km at 5%. After this the riders go downhill for 2,4 km to begin the last hill to the finish line in Beja's Castle. 1,6 km at 4% won't be too hard, and if any sprinters survived the other hills, then they might dispute the win. But we know that won't be very likely.
