Perhaps the winner of the Nederlandse tour will be clear prior to the rider’s final journey from Den Haag to Amsterdam, or perhaps the finish in Amsterdam will be critical. Either way, the prestigious final stage of the tour is a fiercely competitive event. By now, the strongest teams will be identified and this stage will reward the most powerful sprinters. The lead out trains will have formed on the outskirts of Amsterdam, along a route packed with enthusiastic supporters. Having headed off from the political and administrative centre on the coast the peloton will gather momentum as it heads towards the parks and canals of the capital. The finish in Amsterdam will be high speed and require fine technique. It will take the very strongest leadout sprinters to maintain good position and launch their captain in to the finishing straight with a chance of ending the tour with their hands in the air.
