It begins with a medium-steep climb just after rolling out of town, which is the first great opportunity to attack. If anyone tries his luck at this point, he would have around 80km of flat and hilly roads to settle a gap to the peleton. After passing the 100km banner there are two bigger hills where the favorites can test their legs or... start to worry, if they didn't catch the breakaway yet! However the best is still to come with the climb of the day with only 20km to go and a neck-breaking descent towards the flat section just before the finish line.

The winner here would need to be a true all-rounder who can accelerate during the final climb, maintain the advantage on the tricky downhill and, if anyone is still on his wheel, outsprint the rivals on the streets of Oslo.
