For the GC riders, it might feel like the tour is now really starting, with three important stages ahead. The first one of these starts in the village of Casablanca. During the first hundred kilometres, it might not feel like it is a tricky stage. Only after passing Limache, the road slowly starts rising, but still not dramatically steep.
However, the last 30 kilometres of this stage is where it is going to happen. From Quebrada de Alvarado, it gets increasingly steep. The top of this climb, located eleven kilometres before the finish, is reached after a tough climb over 13 km, averaging more than 7%. Once in a while, the road rises to 12%, but it is mostly quite a constant ascent. Those who are not specialists in downhilling, might want to get away before the top, because in the last 11 kilometres to the finish, those type of riders will be able to make a difference. In the quiet village of Tiltil, the finish line is located immediately after the descent, giving the strong downhill riders every chance on their moment of glory.
