The World Tour race Bukarest – Sinaia starts on the Bulevardul Libertatii, in front of the largest civilian building with an administrative function in the world, the Palace of Parliament in Bukarest. Right from the get-go the route slowly starts gaining altitude as the riders make their way towards the Bucegi Mountains.

After a few short climbs the first real test awaits the field at the climb of the Strada Voila to Sotrile. While the length of 11 kilometers is impressive, the steadiness of the climb and the low gradient make it unlikely that large differences will be visible on the stopwatch at the top. The same cannot be said of the Strada Poiana, which traditionally marks the beginning of the finale of the race. With an average incline of 7%, this 4,5 kilometer climb is situated just within the last 30 kilometers of the route.

The short but incredibly steep plunge to the banks of the Prahova river presents ample opportunity for attackers to form a gap with the main bunch. From here on, the last 19 kilometers are almost constantly uphill, though highly irregular in gradient. When reaching the idyllic mountain resort of Sinaia, the road rises one last time for the final two kilometers, where the specialists will have to time their punch to perfection to cross the finish line in first place, in front of fairylike Peles Castle.
