The race start finds itself in Bicheno, a small town on the east coast of Tasmania about 185 km north-east of Hobart on the Tasman Highway. Referred to as ‘The jewel of the East Coast’, it is a picturesque town famous for its sandy beaches, mild climate and sunny weather - a very popular destination for holiday makers and retirees looking for their idyllic sea change.

The 84km race winds itself north up the coast towards Four Mile Creek Conservation Area, before looping around an impressive rocky outcrop known as St. Patrick’s Head. This leads the race into the final stretch into Saint Marys where the finish line will greet the riders and signal the conclusion of the race. At 600 metres above sea level, Saint Marys is surrounded by hills, pristine forests and majestic lookouts with fantastic views of the coast below.

The route from Saint Marys from the coast involves crossing the mountains via St Marys Pass or Elephant Pass, which is flat and winds along the valley floor. The mostly flat nature added to the technical components of the course will mean a sprint finish will be imminent upon reaching the township of Saint Marys.

The strongest sprinter in the lead group will be the most likely victor on the day, however the technical nature of the course means the best sprinters in the field may not be there to contest the finish.
