The tour of Istanbul starts in front of Dolmabahce Palace and Inonu Stadium after a slight 3% average climb the peloton passes through the Bosphorus Bridge for the first time. They go to Asia first side and go to Kalamis Marina then start returning their trip to Europe through Bagdat Avenue. After they return back to the Boshporus, they use the second bridge, named after Fatih the Conqueror, the Ottoman emperor that invaded Istanbul. After they come back to Europe, the riders hit the road to the skirts of Galata Tower, with a very challenging sprint in the end at the coastal district named Tophane. A very exciting race with panoramic scenes of Boshporus.

The terrain in Besiktas - Fenerbahce - Galata has no climbs and has only easy downhills. The terrain has no hills and has many flat and straight roads. The flat ending of the stage makes the finishing an extremely technical sprint demanding everything from the sprinters. The route is pretty technical.
