Nacho Montana and Others announce retirement

Written by TeamQuetzal at 01:23 12/1-2018

If I was to chose my favorite cyclist I would probably chose Ignacio "Nacho" Alberto Montana Rodríguez. The 37 year old and I have leaved numerous adventures together, all of which I will tell one day. (if you are lucky). He was the first Mexican in achieving a podium for the NT, the rider with most appearances in it and one of the most succesful mexican riders of all time. He was the mexican road race cha, pion in seasons 37 and 38. A legend passes by.

So it broke my heart learning today when he entered my office that he announced his retirement. "I just cannot do this anymore" He said "My legs are slower and I cannot even do my job as a LO correcty. Popo needs better teammates." He formally announced his retirement alongside the norwich Inge Strom and Raymon Masolta (the only rider remaining of the original Team Quetzal club). Raymon and Inge will retire after Lake Ohrid and will work as Staff sooner or later in the team.

As a memorial to his career our next two races will be dedicated to him, as he will retire in the team as a leader in Lake Ohrid, Macedonia. Nacho never won a race, but he was still the most competitive rider amongst the ones I have worked with.

He was offered the job of director of the CONADE (the hghest sports organism in Mexico) and of Race Director in Team Quetzal. He will chose as he likes. He will remain in the rider´s log, as he will finish his season in the colors of the National Team, a team I also manage.

When he retires at the end of this season, tears will fall from the eyes of mexican spectators.

  Thank you Nacho!

I am leaving the game so I don't want him to stay here and waste his career. He is already a legend for me????

Tashkent Browncoats at 16:49 17/1-2018
Why are you selling Popo though, he had everything to become a legend for your team :(

Also sad to see Nacho go, I remember him joining your team...

You should write this in their bios. Instead of the bio for 20yo Romano - bios for such young riders would never be accepted...
