 Going Global: Danke, Aber Nein Danke!
Our scouting mission just rolled through Germany, and let’s be real—this was probably the quickest decision our management team has made all season.
The scout brought back the profile for Malte Lübcke, a 21-year-old German prospect. One look at the spreadsheet and the red pen came out immediately:
CB (Cobbles): Average
Everything Else: Small / None
An "Average" cobble ceiling on a guy with "Small" or "None" in every other stat? That’s an easy decline. In a massive cycling nation like Germany, a rider with Malte’s ceiling wouldn't even smell a national jersey, let alone strengthen our main roster. We stamped "PASS" on his file before the ink even dried.
The Greatness of German Cycling in OCM
Passing on Malte was a no-brainer, but it’s always worth taking a moment to respect German cycling history. After all, Germany is home to the biggest race on the calendar—the prestigious Germany Tour. Team WonderDee fans will fondly remember Season 65, when our now-retired Cameroonian legend, Faraji Ekele, put on a absolute clinic to take the overall victory there!
Germany remains a powerhouse in the modern era:
The Current Elite Teams: Nullinger (2,346 pts) leads the charge, closely chased by Equilibrium (1,718 pts) and Allgäu (1,488 pts).
The Top Pedals: Harm Schribner (Nullinger) currently wears the crown as the highest-ranked German rider with 970 points, followed by Silvio Linder (Team Chili) and Caspar Weber (PetrolGas).
Looking at the history books, German OCM cycling has yielded some incredible stats:
Team All-Time Leaders: Optimus Prime sits at the absolute top with a staggering 68,219 points, but Nullinger (61,041 pts) and V02maXXers (52,945 pts) aren't far behind.
The Legends: The all-time rider rank is led by the legendary Gottfried Schuhmacher (10,684 pts), who famously conquered the Helsinki GP sprint classic back in Season 57.
Right behind him is Ewald Giffurt (10,493 pts) and sprint maestro Torben Sturmann (9,871 pts). Sturmann was an absolute force in his prime—winning the sprint-heavy Nederlandse Tour three times, along with Sprint Classification titles at both the Perm Tour and Volta ao Porto.
With icons like Schuhmacher and Sturmann setting the standard, we simply can't settle for "average."
Malte Lübcke might be heading back to the regional leagues, but our international project keeps rolling. The scout has restocked his coffee supply, recalibrated the power meter tech, and is heading back out on the road.
