Team WonderDee is ecstatic to announce that Jef van den Kroon has secured an incredible victory at the Volta da Lagoa dos Patos, the Brazilian 3rd division cobble tour. The veteran Dutch cobbler, who turns 35 in ten days, edged out Iiri Huhtamo (Forza Verde) by just 2 seconds and Nteboheng Mogotsi (Hurrican) by 3 seconds to take the overall win.
This monumental result marks the third consecutive season Jef has triumphed in an OCM cobble tour, a truly unique feat. His winning streak began in Season 72 with a double whammy: a victory at the 1st division Tweedaagse van Antwerpen and, most famously, a career-defining win at the cobble monument, Roubaix Classic. Last season (Season 73), he added the French 2nd division cobble tour, Haute-Normandie, to his palmarès.
"Jef is a legend in the making on the cobbles," said Team WonderDee manager Christian. "To win three different cobble tours, across all three divisions, in three straight years shows his incredible consistency and passion for this brutal terrain. We're immensely proud of him."
This adds a sixth jersey to Jef's impressive career tally, joining the three cobble tour jerseys, the Sprint Classification of La Génération Future (U23), and his two Youth Classification wins at the Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. And, of course, the iconic Roubaix Classic cobblestone trophy is already secured.
With this win, Jef's career statistics now stand at 30 victories from a total of 319 races, alongside 20 second-place finishes and 24 third-place finishes. His overall results now totals 90.
What an achievement for a rider who just keeps proving age is only a number! Gefeliciteerd, Jef!
