Screams from the mountain tops

Written by Team Oasis at 13:29 22/11-2024

When Nidal Ar-Ribaty raised his hands after crossing the line first at Castelo Branco manager Nooky Lair let out a big scream that could be heard all around the plains near Almaceda. Team Oasis has now won all current active one-day climbing races in Division 1. No longer there is any need or pressure to do well at certain races nor will there be any frustrations about failed attempts. Everything has been crossed off, finally!

The foundation of it all was, unknowingly back then, laid in season 32 with the first win in a division 1 CL race at Innsbruck-Salzburg. Till season 56 only 3 additions followed but then slowly the journey began to get shape. Around that period the shift began from a team with a primarily focus on DH & Tours to a full and competitive climbing squad.

That shift found its base in sheer training luck and good hirelist finds as starting from season 50 with the training of Ruslan Prikhodko, who later became my first CL Trophy winner. Victor Mahan followed in S54, Gordon Constantinescu S55, Douglas Andren in S57, Don Winterbottim in S58 and Vadimas Blekevicius in S61. I also should not forget various bought supporting acts that contributed to the success as well.

Unlikely Yuri, i'll keep it to DH and Cl most likely. DH had been crossed off too many seasons ago, which needed to be done again after adding new races to the calendar.

Too bad similar changes in division 2 makes that there are a few blanks there as well, that could become a goal if i can't update my climbing squad.
