Record breaking season

Written by Team Oasis at 21:47 28/11-2016

We are over the moon by the performances of our two stallions: Yanik Arda and Dominic Haidegger. This season they gathered an astonishing 1.070 points in the downhill races. A team record that might never be broken.
We are most glad with the wins at Eissh Downhill, Chennai and Bielsko Biala. With the win in South Africa all division 1 downhill races are won once now. At the other two races we secured our second victory, showing it was no incident we won them before.
Was it all moonshine: no! Dominic injured himself in Granada and could not batte for the win. Still he grabbed a nice 5th spot. Later on teammates did not support Dominic well in Bytom, among them an injury for Taveira. So there we had to settle with a 4th place. Yanik had a weak race in Rio Pico where luckely he stilll managed to reach the podium.
For the rest the season was rather bleak, but nothing had our priority besides Vuelta de los Castillos. Jim Deuring did what he could and fought himself to the podium in the TT, despite a weaker performance in the hilly stage. And we were happy with a few results here and there, also with the NT.
So what will the future bring? Well we are rapidly trying to rejuvenate the squad. Hedi Pourheidari will almost certainly get his retirement and maybe later this season Emerson Prewitt too. Both riders belong to Team Oasis and should get a proper goodbye. Furthermore the position of Kåre Holen and Jim Deuring is up for discussion. We already sold Eduard Kurpatov and Emiliano Guerini.
What will come back. Our biggest purchase is Helmut Gott, who will strenghten both our climbing and downhill squad. We will also buy Dariush Yavari for the hills. Somewhere around day 30 Tudor Basescu will join our ranks to become a proper TM for our thriving downhill department. Of course training of Raúl Gonzales has our first priority. And maybe we add anothr training project to our team, who knows.

Well we have our weaknesses as Stockholm Tour shows as well as Elias Marquez. Next season the results will be more sparse. I'm trying to do a normal season again, with fighting for all sorts of races instead of focusing on a few ones.
