Season 35 points count

Written by Team Oasis at 21:30 8/3-2016

Last season our humble team peaked as never before. Not only we grabbed points like usual but we were also often able to compete for the podium. This resulted in a recordbreaking 16 results of which 5 were a win.
The revelation of the season was our Portugese rookie Plínio Taveira. He managed to win the targeted Porto GP, a stage in Volta and suprisingly also a div 1 climbing race. The lad often seemed lazy, taking an offday but was also wide awake for interesting races. By doing so he claimed captaincy, not bad for a rider who was hired to become a (kuxury) team mate.
The downhill branch knew some fine moments as well. In his last attempt to shine Emerson Prewitt donated Team Oasis two wins this season. One of them was our first win in division 1 at Whistler - Vancouver. It might seem strange, but we had no win in division 1 downhill races yet. We also scored our first result at Bytom - Katowice thanks to Yanik Arda.
There were only few negatives. Of course we had some offdays that made us fall outside top 9, but not often in races where we really had a chance. The only two that really sprang into mind are Yanik Arda's offdays in Uruguay and India.
What we do hope is that we can break the pattern in decisive tour TT's. Jim Deuring had a mechinical issue in Vuelta's TT and an offday in GT's long TT. In the two previous editions he also messed up the latter one. Plinio Taveira did the same thing in Volta's first large TT. By that he might have sacrificed a third spot in Volta GC.
Alas, last season one can't really complain about. Time to look ahead and figure out new objectives.
