The tough mountain ride at Mansfield - Mount Buller was not the terrain of choice for the break away riders today. The favorites were in control with teams such as Velo Club Bored Man and Team Formand United maintaining power.
Non-selfish young Captain Philip Carstensen from Ebbe Spas's boys made sure no one could attack by setting a high tempo in the lead. His pedal power killed many riders that fell off the peloton at the final climb.
With 1.5 kilometres to go, only three riders were left, but the Dane Carstensen lost some of his DynEPO (or was it Jedi?) force and fell a bit back. The Silver went on to be Danish, while Caspian Kristensson (Velo Club Bored Man) fetched Gold.
- The Danish Dynamite is still on! Philip got another chance today to prove his skills with this steep hill and mountains race. And he did a nice figure indeed. I know Oddvar told him that it really was the day to attack. No wind, only love and thin air, Team Manager Ebbe Spas said happily.
- I was a bit surprised that my legs went like on like Duracell batteries on that last climb. But I really needed to show Ebbe my skills, because I have failed too many times this season. Anyway, SKÅL, Carstensen yelled and opened a big can of Carlsberg beer to celebrate with the team.
