A bit unexpected perhaps, but the eternal surprise rabbit Andre Dombrowski, US, conquered St. Petersburg tonight in the blistering cold.
Ending up as no. 2 on the final steep Grand Prix sprint, he drew lots of blood from his strong opponents that day. They looked like cold x-mas bunnies with snow on their faces or perhaps drunk vagabonds, but Andre was like a happy Duracell rabbit that kept the drum running.
- It was really an ideal race today, I just missed a bit of technique in the sprint, because my lead out Curro Rey was injured half way.. Seeing Egbert Wisgerhof win at the line was no surprise. He has a better sprint for sure, Andre said after the race.
When the press asked about Dombrowski's killing form this season, he tried to talk about something else.
- Well, the winter weather here is nice. You should also try to ride with the tramp here in this city. And talk to the local vodka sellers to get new friends.. If you ask about my form, it has nothing to do with müsli pieces soaked in DynEPO solution. No, no.. nothing.. And Dr. Ferrari did not prepare my meal this morning.
Andre D. is now no. 34 on the World list after Skt. Petersburd Grand Prix - Perhaps the best rider on the team since Oddvar "Oddie" Helgesen in his best seasons!
