Comment by Bjarne Riis:
It was really a day to remember at the Volta do São Paulo. Andre Dombrowski had a nice day at the technical hill race and finished 6 th, a bit unexpected by many spectators.
How could this versatile climber be hill versatile also? The answer lies in the details surrounding the epic "Galacticos of Climbing" squad that Ebbe Spas named Team Formand United last season.
Just look at the steep climbing, thin/small folks like "The Pita" and Josue "Froglegs" that often times fetch the world cup points for Spas, but don't forget the versatile climbers around. Dombrowski and Carstensen have fetched pretty hill and mountain points this season and will probably continue with that for the next seasons also.
The basic hill squad hasn't really performed at all, apart from a few races where big talent Drew R. started to show a few teeth in the Top 10. The downhill experts have also disappointed last season and in the beginning of this also. The Pio sale was maybe a bad idea, but economically a decent deed, and the rumors that Oddvar "Oddie" Helgesen will return to his old team to be a world class helper could be true.
All in all Ebbe Spas's Galacticos idea is actually becoming a success. His squad could almost be cut in half and still deliver the same results, because the climbers are really Contador cool at the moment. Stats from our data bank shows that Team Formand Untied can actually end up around spot 20 or 21 on the World list in a few weeks, if the results will not fall to much apart this season.
My conclusion is clear. My Danish favorite Team Manager should be razor sharp hunting fresh talents and selling the dudes that do not deliver results. Give them the kick and kick ass now! Forget about the Italians, the Belgians, The Pogacars - Ebbes four Dane team is looking boiling hot this moment around.
