It was really ignition time at the tough Au bord du Lac Kivu, because the Danish dynamite exploded today! Youngster Philip Carstensen struggled to his first victory on the dangerous mountain road at the top.
The pressure African heat and the wind didn't leave any good ideas for the riders, and the controlling side of Team Formand United proved best at the end.
-The steep climbs today were tough, but I felt good all day, said Philip Carstensen after the win and kissed the African babes on the chins.
- It is beautiful up here and I really felt the team did their best, what a ride today. I will buy Danish pastry for all the team, when we get back home to Ballerup Cykel-Arena, Carstensen laughed.
Ebbe Spas once again used his speaking time at the press summit to talk about his so called "Galacticos of Climbing" team that once again proved Division 1 is the right place to be now.
- I think it was our first Danish win in many, many year. I am a really happy man now, and Carstensen proved today that his
Silver at the Mount Taranaki Cup last year was no coincidence. We claimed the victory before the race and did it all perfect out there. No DynEPO bars needed today. We were Team Sky from Denmark, Ebbe Spas smiles and added: Mu ha ha !!!
