The Luxembourg hills in the Division 1.1 race Clervaux Kriterium were not easy to conquer, but Irvin Val was surely the story of the day!
The French mountain helper was a surprise winner, and a big bit of "Oh la la"s went through the crowd, when he crossed the finish line as the first rider. 32-year old Val rode away from the peloton after only 20 kilometres together with Bill Coopmans (CCFC). The two riders kept on increasing their lead, and it seemed like it would no end take.
Val won the sprint just an inch before Bill, and the peloton came in four minutes later. What a glorious victory for Team Formand United, the third win this season.
- I just knew that Val's legs were super "Oh la la" today, so we tried to aim for an early break out instead of a mass sprint, said Team Manager Ebbe Spas.
- Clervaux Kriterium has always been a nice race, so I was super happy that I could get my first victory today. It is also such a long time ago since my role was SD on this team, so the BA victory was needed, Irvin Val added.
- But now I need to eat some frog legs together with DynEPO sauce. Au revoir!
