The hard and long ride at the tough U23 race Circuito do Príncipe proved to be the right setting for a real power demonstration By Team Formand United.
The fresh downhill boy Robert Tembo, yet another African gem from Formand's cupboards, pedaled in for a second place in the sprint very close after super strong Jonathan Rodenthal. But a surprise then appeared, because who popped up?
Boris Urbanec - a not yet finished training camp wonder. Not even prepped by Dr. Barney Rice or anything. But a bronze in this race none the less! The Team Manager Ebbe Spas was very satisfied at the end of the day:
- Robert was maybe one of the favorites today and really delivered. Boris Urbanec had no chance to follow his two competitors, but ending up third was quite a surprise for me! It was RAW power - real Iggy Pop style!, he says.
- Urbanec is still a raw, possible gem that I have no idea where ends. He cames from the Eastern European swamps and still has a lot to learn regarding technique, but his timing today was outstanding. His main training at my youth academy will still continue, Ebbe ends.
