Season 71 review

Written by ProgressTeam at 01:48 18/1-2025

Another highly successful season for ProgressTeam is behind us! Our goals for this season were almost 100% achieved!

The outstanding performance of Laos Kholadeth Vongsamany gave us our first-ever team victory in a stage race, and in two classifications! Shortly before, our second leader Poland Gerald Imiołek, achieved the first stage race podium in our team's history. We are even more satisfied that we finished all stages in both races in the top 9.

Good performances in stage races were complemented by solid starts in one-day races, where we secured 4 second places and 11 top4-9 places. There could have been a few more, but we had to keep an eye on the ranking points to aim for a suitable starting position in season 72 and be at the start of the races we are targeting very strongly.

Season 71 was also great in terms of training and transfers. Our leaders already have almost complete teams, and our young talents Denmark Emil Åberg (another CL leader?) and Spain Gabriel Lanos (main hill helper) continue to make progress.

  Key statistics:
  - 11 results - 4 wins, 5 seconds, 1 third and 1 other
  - 646 points – 235th Overall, 8th National.

   Best riders:
  - Laos Kholadeth Vongsamany – 4 wins, 3 seconds
  - Poland Gerald Imiołek - 2 second, 1 third

   Winning races:
  - Canada Edmonton Red Deer Tour – General Classification
  - Canada Edmonton Red Deer Tour – Youth Classification
  - Canada Edmonton Red Deer Tour - Stage 2
  - Canada Edmonton Red Deer Tour – Stage 4

   Departure and arrival hall:
   Welcomes:
  - Sweden Benjamin Ljunggren
  - Canada Garrick Shanklin
  - Brazil Xavier Ortona
  - Australia Jarome Monaghan

   Goodbyes:
  - Wales Emery Monson (CL trainer)
  - Czech Republic Svaton Daniel (FR trainer)
  - Benin Denis Diè
  - Portugal Valentim Couto

  Goals for season 72:
  - we will try to catch both Austria Rundfahrt der Schlösser der Alpen and Switzerland Monte Rosa Tour with Imiolek
  - Canada Edmonton Red Deer Tour with Vongsamany
And then, depends of our rank
  - Ukraine Karpaty Tyr or USA Race of the Minutemen with Imiolek
  - South Africa Tour of the Western Cape with Vongsamany
  - maybe some Div.3 classics France Zyte GP with Imiolek and Denmark VCK Classic with Vongsamany
  - finish Denmark Emil Åberg’s training (hopefully with his FR close to 79)
