After our successful campaign in New England last season, Britcycles will be making their return to the tour with the goal of repeating last season's success.
As expected, Karsten de Maerschalk will lead the team, but he will be supported by a few different faces from last season. Svensson, Zimmer and Bobrikov have all left the team since but ryant is assured the team is stronger this time around. "With the addition of Boon, Lobont and Bailey, we have certainly increased the available support in the mountains, we have also retained Toledano and Zuaza, who will add to the experience of the team and they know the roads around New England well, so all in all, we are just as prepared as possible."
However, Karsten de Maerschalk was considered a top favourite last season, but this time, the competition is much harder. We managed to get Karsten de Maerschalk's view on this: "It certainly is a lot tougher, this race is certainly got a reputation of being brutal and this has brought many top climbers to the event. Riders like Latey and Telkamp can certainly climb with the world's best so I'll have to make the time trial's count. I have no hope with trying to stay with them in the high mountains, even in my form that I have, so the prologue and mountain TT is where I have to work my hardest."
Even a stage win will be difficult, after Twente Cycling Team signed up with Petrescu, so ryant stated that a top 9 GC in this field will be great, but obviously the mountain TT will be the stage where we have the greatest chance of success.
Karsten de Maerschalk will have his preparation race in Longarone, in the Longarone ITT, while Lobont and a few others will get race experience in Canejan - Les.
