It is winter time and we are sitting next to a fire pit on the parking lot of BGK Cycling Team for an interview with NT and BGK manager Tacticman to talk about season 55.
Reporter: It has been a very successful season for you...
Tacticman: Yes, it really has been. It was my first season as a NT manager. It I admit, I had big feed to fill with Bart leaving the NT of Belgium. But Bart shared a lot of his experience so I could be competitive straight away.
Reporter: In the CoN week, Belgium got 2nd but the Netherlands won and had quite a lead in the WT. Did you panic?
Tacticman: I think becoming 2nd behind or neighbors is nothing to be ashamed off. They are a very successful nation in the WT. The gap after CoN Washington City TT was big. The scenario was like in season 54, when Belgium made a big gap in the same race. But I want to win every race so I don't look at the WT-ranking until the end of the season. We have won 3 races. I think nobody in WTA did better so I'm a happy man.
Reporter: Do you think there is enough talent in Belgium to keep up with the good results in the WT?
Tacticman: Belgium has a lot of riders in OCM but like every country, good riders retire because of age or a lack of motivation. Being a NT manager did open my eyes a bit and I will try to fit in some Belgian talents into BGK Cycling Team to make it myself and every future NT manger a bit more easy.
Reporter: Talking about Belgian talents, Bart Stuycken and Calle Van Goolen are perfect examples.
Tacticman: I would add Antonio De Cuman as well. Bart and Calle had a very good season but Antonio scored a lot of points. May be not with big victories but he had some solid results.
Reporter: The most amazing result was in Zyte GP, where Ian Barone won the division 3 classic.
Tacticman: That was a funny story, normally Calle would be captain as he was in TF after his great Race of the Minutemen. But the trainers miscalculated and his TF faded a bit earlier. So we said to all the riders they could try and get into the break away for some good old guerilla racing. Once the race started Ian was in the break away and we knew he would win it if they got to the finish. He is so experienced.
Reporter: All this results lead to the all time record for BGK Cycling Team with 1274. That is almost 1,5 times the previous record.
Tacticman: Yeah, this season was awesome. We have multiple captains. Almost half of our rider are captain material. But it is great to see this good riders work for an other captains. Everybody works for everybody and that gives a great atmosphere.
Reporter: Thank you for the interview and good luck next season.
Tacticman: It was a pleasure.
