When the final climb was near, A Siberia and Olabode Kalunguji made sure no one could attack by setting a high tempo in the lead. At the end of the climb, only the strongest climbers were in front. With 1.5 kilometres to go, (Pasto Cycling Team) launched an attack, which Olabode Kalunguji (Jorcoweb) and Salem El Kitli (A Siberia) easily countered.
Donovan Huet lost Olabode Kalunguji's wheel when the sprint was launched, and Salem El Kitli had a close sprint with Olabode Kalunguji. Salem El Kitli was the fastest in the sprint, leaving Olabode Kalunguji only a few inches behind. Donovan Huet, who had no power left for the sprint, secured his third place only 3 seconds later.
Salem El Kitli was happy with the result. It has been my dream for a long time to win this stage, and finally I succeed, said the smiling winner.
The stage couldn't turn out any better than this. Salem El Kitli did a perfect job today, said Manel, manager of A Siberia, after the race.
