Verona-Bolzano G5 was exciting all the way through. Several riders tried their luck on the climbs, yet the stage were to be terminated by a leading group of climbers. Early on the climb, Wayne Van de Plas (TeamRunningCenter) launched an attack, and he managed to get away alone. No one could match Wayne Van de Plas's tempo, as he drove to the top without any threats. The rest of the climbers stayed together in a group, where Clodoveo Vega (WV De Dommel) secured his second place right in front of Herbert Duke (Crouch End ).
I'm happy the team picked me for the stage. I knew I could do it (win), and I wanted to prove it as well, said the happy winner who continued with a smile on his face: My preparations were perfect, I had a perfect day, and I won!.
The stage couldn't turn out any better than this. Wayne Van de Plas did a perfect job today, said Chelle, manager of TeamRunningCenter, after the race.
