Early on the stage, five optimistic riders attacked on the first climbs of Losheim - Trier. They managed to keep a gap between them and the peloton until they reached the final climb. At the bottom of the climb, the group of favourites passed them. Rider by rider, they couldn't keep up with the tempo set by Team Ad Astra, who were supporting Jackie Østrup. Right behind the riders of Team Ad Astra was Carl Fuglsang and Paul-Erik Krammer lurking. Jackie Østrup looked strong, and seemed to have a good day, but when Paul-Erik Krammer launched an attack, only Carl Fuglsang could follow. Carl Fuglsang made a counter-attack and was suddenly alone in the front, as Jackie Østrup caught up Paul-Erik Krammer once again. Carl Fuglsang secured his victory without problems, while Jackie Østrup was faster in the sprint than Paul-Erik Krammer. I'm still surprised that I could do this. Only when I was getting near the finishing line I realized that I had the chance of winning, said a shocked, but happy, Carl Fuglsang and continues: I owe my team a big thank for their great support today. Without them, this couldn't be possible. The manager of Team Ad Astra was proud of his rider today. Carl Fuglsang has been training and preparing himself for this race. It's an important victory - both for Carl Fuglsang but also for the team.
