Jean-Michel Verduijn from Jolly Wheels opened the sprint with Cees-Jan Wesveld right behind him, though Jean-Michel Verduijn had no chance to follow his competitors when Cees-Jan Wesveld boosted ahead. Cees-Jan Wesveld won the stage only a few inches ahead of Motor Motol 's Khosrow Jazani who took the second place. Jean-Michel Verduijn barely held his position as third.
Cees-Jan Wesveld wasn't surprised after winning Lira - Akalu. I simply knew I could do it. I felt good all day, and when the end was there, I gave everything I had, said the confident winner.
