Early on the stage, five optimistic riders attacked on the first climbs of Glen Highlands. They managed to keep a gap between them and the peloton until they reached the final climb. At the bottom of the climb, the group of favourites passed them. Rider by rider, they couldn't keep up with the tempo set by Etixx Benelux, who were supporting Pierre Wolters. Right behind the riders of Etixx Benelux was Ciceron Gama and Coby Thurston lurking. Pierre Wolters looked strong, and seemed to have a good day, but when Coby Thurston launched an attack, only Ciceron Gama could follow. Ciceron Gama made a counter-attack and was suddenly alone in the front, as Pierre Wolters caught up Coby Thurston once again. Ciceron Gama secured his victory without problems, while Pierre Wolters was faster in the sprint than Coby Thurston. Ciceron Gama was happy for his efforts today. It was a tough day today, but with the result of it, it suddenly feels like nothing. I'm so happy I won today. I didn't expect it at all, said the pleased winner. The manager of Cuenca Euskadi was proud of his rider today. Ciceron Gama has been training and preparing himself for this race. It's an important victory - both for Ciceron Gama but also for the team.
