Victory for Jacobus De Fauw

Today was a day for the break-away?ers in Bay of Plenty. From the first kilometre, several riders were trying to get away from the peloton. The first serious attack started when a small group of riders got away from the peloton at 11 km of Bay of Plenty.
The weather played a big role of today?s race. The bike got a big wash as well as the riders. The break away didn?t seem to be effected by the weather though: they kept increasing the lead. No one in the peloton took the initiative to catch up the break away due to the rainy weather.
In the break away the riders cooperated perfectly and they kept a good distance to the peloton the entire race. With a few kilometres to go, the break away ended in a sprint. 100 metres to go, Martijn Hazes launched the sprint, but both Jacobus De Fauw and Christer Bergström passed him in the sprint. Jacobus De Fauw ended up as winner, with Christer Bergström right behind him.
I'm still in shock. When the attack started earlier today, I didn't expect to end up as winner, said the happy Duisburgers rider, Jacobus De Fauw. Only at the very end, I realized that this could be my chance, and so it was.
Duisburgers's manager, Mon Miseur, was satisfied after the result in Bay of Plenty. Jacobus De Fauw did very well today. Everything turned out as we planned it, and Jacobus De Fauw had the power to win, said the manager.
