Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Late Show with Johnathan Hernandez!

  Monologue

Well, it´s called “Late” Show huh? Little 4 days delay, no problemo I got it. For real, I´m so sorry for the delay, however, when I saw Nick announcing the 3rd OCM 10-year anniversary event I felt way better. Now I am late, but Nick…now he needs to host the “Super Very Late Late Show” haha! Jokes aside, I really liked the idea of creating your own Tour, and that´s nice. I really liked Simon de Montfort´s European Tour. Nice idea, I however think that the flat stage should go at last. I also invite you to see my very own “Vuelta a México”. I´ll write the stages description a bit later. This is not any type of self-advertising for my tour to get implemented whatsoever. Haha! Anyway, let´s jump straight to what you guys come for. Please welcome the one, the only honzas!

  Interview

JHDZ: To start it off, how are you?
HONZAS: Very well, just a busy all the and time and having a very little hangover right now. I have therefore to apologize for sending my responses at the very last moment. And what about you?
JHDZ: Oh, don´t worry, there´s no problem at all honzas! I am fine myself thank you very much! But we´re here to speak of you honzas, tell me, what made you like cycling?
HONZAS: To be honest, I probably never rode a road bicycle. Maybe as a child I had something similar to that. In early nineties, however, I discovered MTB and get addicted to that till now. Earlier, I devoured any information about technical news, percentages of weight savings and stiffness increases, increased and or subsequently decreased number of gears; but at some point in time, I became immune to that and just enjoy the riding. As some natural development, I moved from hardtail with rigid fork to full suspension bike with 160mm travel, from climbing to using lifts where possible, from occasional participation in mass MTB marathons to some enduro type of riding, enjoying peopleless trails and nature around.
JHDZ: How would you describe your experience in OCM?
HONZAS: Thanks to OCM I became a fan road cycling. Now I´m able to stair hours on the screen during the spring classics or grand tours which is for sure highly appreciated by my family. My last spot in the CQ ranking game however shows that I still do not understand that very well.
JHDZ: How does it feel to have one of the greatest riders of all time: Farruco Alonso?
HONZAS: It is great feeling. I remember Tim from

Gradient Levellers posted his potential and I immediately knew I want to have such rider. At that time, there was no bidding war for such non-standard type of riders so I also got him for reasonable price. The only shame is that he is aging very quickly and therefore I would need to find new motivation for my team soon.
JHDZ: What is your favorite real life cycling race??
HONZAS: MTB Trilogy. 4 days of heavy riding during the days and some drinking in the evenings.
JHDZ: What does PEKAC B mean?
HONZAS: We have a real life PEKAC cycling team, a group of a few guys being closer to retirement age than to childhood. Some years ago, we agreed that we are not good enough so we cancelled “A” team and move voluntarily to the “B” team. At that time, OCM PEKAC B was established. In the meantime, we relegated us stepwise to “C”, “D” ... because of the continuous drop of performance. At the moment, we would be somewhere very close to the end of alphabet.
In Czech, “pekac” means baking pan. My logo shows why we have it in the name of the team; just beer is missing to make our hobby complete.
JHDZ: Now that´s an interesting team name ;) Has it been a hard journey to get to the top of OCM?
HONZAS: In my case, it was a mixture of luck and natural development. I think it took me more than two years to get into the top division for the first time. Before training Farruco, I had rather mediocre team which was quite good in Zyte division but very week in the top division. It changed with Farruco. To support him sufficiently, I sold my sprinters and bought climbers which, from the retrospective view, seems to be the best decision I did here. With the climbers and hillers and points primarily from tours I was able to be in the top 10 for several seasons.
JHDZ: Favorite OCM manager and OCM rider
HONZAS: I spent lot of time with the discussions with Michael Danner from CyclingClubChomutov and milda from TJ Banik OKD so I would name those two. Both of them have nice teams now and do very well which makes me happy.
And the riders? There are 2 riders from my team who brought me lot of fun and kept mi in the game. Obviously, it is Farruco Alonso. At the same time, I enjoyed success of my Little Monster (Rogerio Lagos) a lot. A cheap low AV rider who delivered nice results.
From the other teams, my GOAT is Jerry Grundin, he had unbelievably stable performance over many seasons.
JHDZ: Do you regret anything in the game?
HONZAS: No. It is just a game and there is no time to regret, just to learn from the mistakes I regularly do.
JHDZ: Plans for the future of your

team?
HONZAS: I want to win at least one stage in each tour which exists in the OCM. I only had 4 remaining. With 3 new tours, it goes up to 7 and it is a lot of work.
Thank you for inviting me, it was my pleasure to talk to you.

  Higher Lower

Now, tonight´s game is called “Higher Lower”. The rules are simple, I will give honzas a term, and it´s monthly Google searches. Then I´ll give him another term and he´s gonna have to guess which one is googled more. Here we go!

JHDZ: "To Kill A Mockingbird" has 450,000 average monthly searches. Is "Bruno Mars" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES.
JHDZ: That´s right, Bruno Mars has 3 million monthly searches. Next! "Donnie Darko" has 550,000 average monthly searches. Is "China Mobile" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES
JHDZ: Exactly! You are on a streak man! "Pink Panther" has 368,000 average monthly searches. Is "SeaWorld" Googled more?
  HONZAS: NO
JHDZ: You are right! However, if you said yes you would have gotten a correct answer too! SeaWorld has the same searches as Pink Panther. Next! "Sigmund Freud" has 4,090,000 average monthly searches. Is "The Sixth Sense" Googled more?
  HONZAS: NO
JHDZ: Correct again sir! "Suffragettes" has 301,000 average monthly searches. Is "Metropolis" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES
JHDZ: Good lord are you cheating? Correct again! "Oxfam" has 165,000 average monthly searches. Is "Prada" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES
JHDZ: Prada has 900.000 monthly searches which means…Correct again! "Oakland Raiders" has 1,220,000 average monthly searches. Is "Middlemarch" Googled more?
  HONZAS: NO
JHDZ: Barely even searched, Middlemarch has just got 1.200 monthly searches. "Trumpet" has 301,000 average monthly searches. Is "Sydney Opera House" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES
JHDZ: Correct! "Leo Tolstoy" has 74,000 average monthly searches. Is "Johnny Cash" Googled more?
  HONZAS: YES
JHDZ: Lamentable that such a great writer as Tolstoy gets so little searches. Johnny Cash is indeed looked up more. The last one! "Harry Potter" has 6,120,000 average monthly searches. Is "Ryanair" Googled more?
  HONZAS: NO
JHDZ: Sweet lord! I really thought you could make the perfect Higher Lower game! Ryanair is looked up 25 million times by month, isn´t that crazy? A bit illogical for me. 9/10 for you honzas, congratulations! Ladies and gentlemen a huge applause for honzas and see ya, on the next one!
