As a late-night talk show host and busy NT and Team Quetzal Manager and Directeur Sportif, you might think I have not much free time. Well you´re wrong. I´ve got lots of it. As I was looking for the OCM Awards Committee (Yes, I am part of that too) I ended up in johny2´s page. Do not ask why or how, Don Hamstre will send his mob friends to kill me if there´s any leak. The most remarkable rider of the team is course Folke Folgestorm. His most recent win (and what a win) was the World Championships.
Interesting race the World Championships. Maybe because the race profile never changes even though it is in a different country every year (well, most of the time) and because of the amazing riders that have won it. Maybe the most amazing one of them is the goat himself, Sweden Äme Anderberg. He wore the rainbow jersey three times. Perhaps his most remarkable win was on Season 7. But we´ll get to that later. Because of his amazing palmares, many lovers of the cycling sport have accused Äme of doping. Or cheating in some way. Like all the greats.
After looking at some Äme highlights and videos in OCMTube, I was tired so I went to eat some tacos. I came back and checked my mailbox. One message. I thought it might be the next Late Show guest with answers to his questions, but it was not. It was OCMagazine boss, Yuri. His message was only a link, of a video

in OCMTube. I clicked it, and it was the FULL replay of 7th WC edition, in Madrid, Spain (Fun fact: Madrid has been host of the WC three times edition 7, 8 and 19. Fun fact 2: Spain is the only country to have back to back WC host with Denmark. And Norway for some time *gives weird wink to audience*) Anyway, I was sick of replays (I had just watched three hours of Äme content) but since I had nothing to do (Well ok, I had stuff to do) I decided to watch the video. And I discovered some weird stuff. Here starts a conspiracy theory that I have (and spectators too, back then). Might be right, might be wrong. We´ll never know.
Spaniard SPain Rolon Basadre from Team Weeny was the huge favorite, both of the race and the fans. Spain had never won a WC, and Rolon was the perfect rider to win at home. The race is not exactly at Madrid, since that city is flatter than…Well you got me. The race started, and immediately Team Weeny started controlling the peloton. Bizarrely, no breakaways happened on that stage. At the 20km line, at the bottom of the mythical hill “La Colina de los Milagros” (The hill of miracles) Rolon Basadre put a great acceleration in the front of the pack. No one could follow him. The group that was behind him included seven riders, most of the favorites (Äme Anderberg, Paulo Espinosa, Kare Aby, Fergus Piner) and two Basadre teammates that obstructed relays (Shawn Rubinstein and Per Esmark) Basadre had 1´43 seconds of advance to the favorites group

at the 10km line. At that moment Äme Anderberg suffered a mechanical issue and had to stop. Luckily for him, Team Zyte´s car was just behind him. Nick Lissner himself and mechanic Kolek Samarin got out of the car. OCM car (Yes, OCM has a car and it is used in big races. Nowadays Nick is the one in there, [With Sandro Montelbano, Lean Ahnfeldt-Mollerup and Äme himself] but back then those inside were known as OCM Authorities) stopped too. Which is weird. They gave a bike to Äme, and he went on with the race. Nick protested a bit with the OCM Car guy and they finally went on.
Äme would catch up the favorites, and at 700 meters from the finish line, he catched up on Basadre. They rode as fast as they could and both launched the sprint at 50 meters from the line. Äme would win with the closest margin ever registered in a WC. 3.7 millimeters. Authorities had to look at the replay for 10 minutes before determining the winner.
However, in many local pubs started the rumor that the bike OCM Authorities gave to Anderberg was a bike with an engine on it. That is how he catched Basadre, they would say. Apparently, Nick disagreed because he did not want cheating, but Äme had already left. A Spaniard spectator affirmed that he heard the conversation.
Äme had already won the WC, in a great win in Season4, and would go to win it again in Season 10, in what look like clean wins. What happened in Madrid on Day 90 of Season 7? We shall never know.

  What!

You're accusing my great champion of cheats! Doping, motor - you're not holding back there. ;)

Really entertaining story though. Good job!
