It has been a very busy week and I could spend it on the beautifull island of Sicilia where the Giro di Sicilia is being held this week. The weather was nice and with a four stage tour starting my cycling heart beat a bit faster than usual. And staying in Palermo as my base it gave me an opportunity to see some of the cities beauties like Fontana Pretoria, Piazza Giulio Cesare, La Zisa, the cathedral of Palermo and many more interesting things. The serve great wines and the Marsala is something you have to taste once in your life.
Giro di Sicilia
The teams were eager to start this four stage race in Sicily. Many sprint teams have come to try and win this special tour. With the prologue. as the King stage but, the final stage as the decider who wins and who does not. The prologue, was won with a great time, by Rolf Lejeune of AusGo, before Leith Inglis, Ghost Riders and Tyler Richardson, AusGo. Stage two was a flat stage from Catania to Siracusa along the coast. In Siracusa it was a bunchsprint that was won by Horii Tsuyoshi of LFC Rado team. He beat Asgeir Oien, Cycling and kebab and Igor Stackhouse, Bing Team. Stage three took the riders north to the town of Messina, it was the opposite route of yesterday and a little bit more, a sprint finish was again the outcome. Christopher Faux, BrokenChain beat Igor Stackhouse, Bing Team and Horii Tsuyoshi, LFC Rado team. The final stage lead to the capital of Palermo. This stage is the pinnacle of the race, the hills in the north suport only the winners. And with Igor Stackhouse, Bing Team, the winner was known for stage and tour. He beat Asgeir Oien, Cycling and kebab and Lonzo Mezo, DJMS.

Helsinki GP
The great classic in Top Division around Helsinki was about to start. With top favourite and two time winner, back to back, Spartak Astankov at the start. Will he be able to win another, third, Helsinki GP. The team were all geared up and the pace was high. Mainly Opium Fueled and V02maXXers were busy at the front. With a cold but clear sky the riders were still not able to see what was around them and missed the greatness of Helsinki due to the fast pace. And at the Pohjoisesplanadi it was the final dash for gold. It was not Spartak Astankov but Fonzo Mejia, Glamourade who took the win. Before Spartak Astankov, Opium Fueled and an angry Koert de Boer, V02maXXers.

Entrecasteaux GP
One of the older classics on the calendar and with fiftyseven episodes already probaby one of the most raced races of them all, it is Entrecasteaux GP, the division nine classic that everybody had raced once but always found out its importance too late. The Provence was again home for many young teams that tried to do their best maybe a victory but not the honour, the honour would come later, much later. It was Felix Marquez, Sansa CT who won it in a sprint with Leif Thecle, Atric and Kjell Viken, Team Sanok would finish third. I wonder who will win a race in Top division of these three.
