Fast on Wheels - a preview

The Danish Fast on Wheels tour is on its way and we see again many new teams at the start. Some teams we have seen before in this or other tours and some teams are experiencing the thrills of multi day racing. Let us meet the gladiators that face the cold and ride their bikes in wintery Denmark.

   Shirks Racing

Will they go for Rod Rush as their captain or do they pick Sikesdi Ákos. My pick would be Rod Rush, a great sprinter in topform and he can be victorious in one or two stages. Sikesdi Ákos could be leading the team in the vital stage in Vejle to get an interesting position in the General Classification.

   Andeby

The Norwegian team Andeby is coming with two captains for the timetrial. Rio Vélez and Al Lenard are aiming for a nice spot and maybe even a win in the first stage and the stage in Odense. The other riders are here for show and could be expected in an early breakaway.

   Touring Titans

With Kody Vasser we are seeing a rider that is very good in a time trial. His main goasl are the first prologue and the race in Odense. If he should win those races he could end up high in the General Classification. He will not win the tour because he will lose too much in the stage around Vejle. But for Touring Titans that does not matter much.

   Garbo28

Garbo28 has been asking for advice on what to do but, with Eric Jonker as captain they can manage themselves. A nice sprinter with some decent results already behind his name and an interesting squad behind him to guide him into the final meters. A stage victory would be great but a result should be expected.

   Bucharest Bullets

The Romanian Bucharest Bullets are here with a full Romanian squad headed by their star Gregoriu Sames. This rider should be noted down for a victory in a stage or two and he would have a great opportunity to grab the Youth Classification this year if he limtis his losses in the timetrial.

   Caixa Galicia

Raymundo Arteaga should give the team the points in the stages against the clock. When those are done they all work for Bartolomeo Galindez. And he is the sprinter that Caixa Galicia hopes for to win a stage. Two captains for different stages. This might work in the end and give the team the cash and points it deserves.

   BCTeam

With a former Youth Classification winner as their

captain in this tour this team is sure to be amongst the favourites. Nari Iacone is trying to do good in the timetrial again and to keep up with the best in the sprintraces. He will not be a winner in a stage but he could very well end up high in the top nine of the General Classification.

   Budapesti VSC

Boronyák Tom should bring in the points for Budapesti VSC and with Kiskapusi Gergely they have another rider that can race against the clock. They are hoping for a decent result but in the end they will most likely fail to do great. Some results in stages are possible but in the end it will not be a very enthousiastic race for Budapesti VSC.

   Blues Racing

Another newcomer in the form of Blues Racing, and they are arriving with Simran Krishnan. The Indian could upset the tourrider with a great performance in the hilly stage in Vejle and win Fast on Wheels. The inexperienced team and manager are most likely what prevents them from that really happening. A nice top nine result in the end is a great result for this team.

   Valerie Pro Cycling Team

The full Chilean team by Valerie Pro Cycling is build around Placido Carballo and this sprinter is feeling great with some nice results already this season. He should be able to be victorious in one of the flat stages. He might be able to hang on in the end to secure a nice General Classification but he will not get a top three.

   BrokenChain

Cu Van Thuy is the Vietnamese champion and is captain of BrokenChain. He is not more then any other riders though. He will however, demands their support for their cause. Winning a stage and showing his national jersey. Because winning we do together, losing we do alone. He might go for a top five in the General Classification.

   Ghost Riders

The Scottish team of Ghost Riders have their faith in Haddad Yusuf a young Omani rider of only twentyone years old. He could go for the Youth Classification. And if not this year, then maybe next. He could be maxed or there is an interesting possibility he could even become better. Only time will tell. No real fireworks from this rider could be expected yet.

   Team Pinarello

With Ruppert Cristian they have an exprienced rider in an, otherwise, full Australian squad. Ruppert is a sprinter that can win races and has done so this season already twice. With the decent support Team Pinarello brings he could get a nice result in a stage and finish well in the end. His timetrial disability will give him no hopes for a General

Classification.

   CC Est

The Estionian team CC Est should go for their youngster Urmo Just, still eligable for the Youth Classification and a great sprinter. He could be able to win a stage whe more technique is asked from a rider. Dieter Ulmendorf should provide support being a great sprinter but more suited for the cobblestones.

   Carmelo Cicles Club

Carmelo Cicles Club from Uruguay is in Denmark with an exotic group of riders. Nakashita Toshira is the rider that attracts most attention as he is the one that should give results in the time trial stages. Could Antao Salomao provide the same in the flat stages, is the question. Maybe but he should beat much younger riders. No real chance in my book.

   IDX Garuda Kestrel

From one part of the world to another. IDX Garuda Kestrel is from Indonesia and signed up with Oddmund Borgen as captain. The team itself is not really note worthy and they just wanted to experience the event of being in a tour. I expect this team in a breakaway and a surprising top nine finish.

   JRJ

The Danish team JRJ must keep their head up high as they defend the Danish colours in the Danish Fast on Wheels tour. They want to do this with Klas Thomsen and I believe that is a great choice. This rider has what it takes to win this tour and we will see him in the top three of this season. I am sure of that.

   Boca Seniors

Another rider that could dominate this tour if he had the support he needed. Boca Seniors is a new team from Argentina and with Zbigniew Stasiak they have a Polish veteran rider able to win the toughest stage in Fast on Wheels. With his time trial abilities and posibility to sprint he could be the next winner in Copenhagen.

   Uber

Zack Traylor is the captain of Canadian team Uber. A decent sprinter and with a good team behind him he could win one or two stages and finish high in the rankings of the General Classification. Will this be the first winner from Canada in Fast on Wheels. He could lose the tour in the timetrial and my bet is that he will.

   Oscar en Luna

The Dutch team Oscar en Luna bring a great Turkish sprinter with them who already been captain for the Turkish National Team. Çaliskan Saral will be able to win one or two stages, maybe even more and he is my favourite for the blue jersey. A team focussed on sprinting should see this as their most important goal for this tour.

  yeah for the TT.

Garbo28 at 21:42 1/12-2014
Thanks for the great preview. A stage would be good seeing as my time trialling is shaky at best :o)

Bucharest Bullets at 11:36 2/12-2014
Arrrrgh, so close for a much desired stage win, in Stage 2. Gregoriu Sames came only second :( Stage 3 suits him better.Hope for the best.
