Kangaroo Tour - a preview

The eastern part of Australia is the scenerry of this season's Kangaroo Tour and again many teams have lined up to make this an event filled with great cycling. The first stage will probably give us our overall leader for a few stages and the last stage will secure a Generall Classification victory for the winner. The stages in between are a sprinter's ball. Let us enjoy.

   jmtoler

With a team full of time trial specialists and even one rider in topform it is obvious that jmtoler wants to win the leaders jersey on stage one. With Jens Haugland as the big favourite to win it. They will try to keep it as long as they can and they probably will have it for a few stages. In the end they must give it away.

   Burren Connemara

They have a nice form. Every rider is in topform. Will Theobold Rippel be able to win the first stage and Drew Weis complete it with an overall victory. All is possible, maybe Hugh Inskeep could even win the Youth Classification and the General Classification.

   logoloos

Keith Randolph is the sprinter for Dutch team logoloos. He is a good sprinter and could give the team some nice results on the stages. In the end the rider will have to face the fact that he is not good enough for an overall classification but, maybe he can surprise with a stage victory.

   Team JAN

Franz Amelung is back to defend his title and he is ready for it. Worked his complete season towards this race. If his form is like that of last year this rider could, again, give joy to Team JAN and give them many points and money.

   Fissa

Gilles Rouge should be the rider that gives Fissa a chance to win this tour. He is fit and is a great sprinter and will be able to finish all stages within the top nine. Except for the first and last one, let those stages be the important ones to win the Kangaroo Tour. No overall victory but a nice stage result is possible.

   lastplace1414

Alvin Champion is in topform and wants to be who he is. A champion, with topform in Australia that could be doable. He is a decent sprinter and can survive the tough stage around Sydney. His timetrial skills are enough to not lose much time. Write down this name for future champion, youth or general classification.

   Storm Sandefjord

  Norwegian

based team Storm Sandefjord has faith in Bjarte Petersen. A decent sprinter but, more important an overall strong rider that can finish every stage within the top nine. It will be enough for a nice stream of money and points but, in the end he will miss out on the big prizes and settle for a top nine.

   rooney17

With Afanasy Tyannikov we great a familiar rooney17 rider and he will target the first stage again. The other stages are most likely be captained by Thorsten Roberts, the German sprinter that is racing this season for rooney17 and already had a result in the Perm Tour. Will he be able to repeat that result and even improve it. We will see.

   Quick step minded

Quick step minded relies on the old Portuguese sprinter Baltasar Bulhões. Not a bad pick as a captain as this rider might hit topform and then he would be difficult to beat when the bunch rolls towards the finish line. No rider for the Youth Classification but he could surprise with a top three result in the end.

   Rupon CC

Gustavo Anton is in topform and could be one of the biggest favourites to win this years tour. A great sprinter and very strong in the hills. The first stage will be a race to try to lose as little of time and after that it is just a game of winning as much as possible. Youth Classification is already spoken for will he be the winner of the Kangaroo Tour this season, only an injury could hold him off.

   NightmareChaos

With Eduardo Vasconcelos as captain NightmareChaos has their other sprinters working all for the Brasilian. A decent sprinter and capable of getting some top nines. In the end not a real thread for the big sprinters but maybe he could surprise on a stage.

   DCM

Swedish based team DCM has Sammy Ågren and they are working for him to win at least one stage. This great sprinter should be able to do that and maybe even more. In the end it will be too tough to get a real good result but this rider will get some points and money for his team.

   Kingstowm

Michiel Pruijsers is competition for Gustavo Anton. This rider is a good sprinter and also eligable for the Youth Classification. His form is slighty worse and that could form a problem to really secure a great result. This rider will be good enough to still score good results.

Borstelharen

With Conrad De Graef they signed up their best sprinter but in the end this team is not good enough to impress the competition and the spectators. Conrad can give Borstelharen a top nine finish in one or two stages but that is about it. No real miracles should be expected from this team.

   English Sprinting Team

Carroll Mullan and Lambert Scown, together more then 66 years of sprinter's legs. Will Carroll Mullan get another victory on his old age or will he support Lambert to secure a nice tour result. We fear Carroll Mullan gets the support to go for a victory in the tour from teammanager Michael.

   Los Belgicos

Godfried Terwenhout is the sprinter of this team but, the first stage should be Vela Cele to secure a nice result. Godfried Terwenhout will be able to get points in the following stages. He already did it last year so we expect him to be on the podium again on one or two occasions. His great results from last season would be hard to achieve, however.

   Silencio

From Puerto Rico we have Silencio. A very seasoned team and teammanager and with Detari Catalin a great sprinter that can secure a nice victory or a top three finish in one or two stages. With a classic victory already this season in Rotterdam, Detair is very confident he can do it in Australia also.

   Team Jayco

Hometeam Team Jayco is very excited to ride in the Kangaroo Tour. With a full Aussie squad they are the local favourites and with Jasper Craig they have a rider that can secure a nice victory. The last stage should be the one to do it in and if you can win the last stage you can even win the tour. That would be something and a dream come true.

   Kalakini CC

Eddi Autzen is again the rider for Kalakini CC. The Danish rider is in his second season for Kalakini CC and is ready to secure a nice victory in this tour. He could win a race in one of the early stages and make the tour a success. A General Classification would be a bit too much to ask for but one can dream.

   Adamastor

Adamastor from Portugal took the last spot. And we will see this team in the early breakaways every stages. The riders are decent but can not wait until the final meters of the stage to end the stage with a powerful jump. They can surprise the peloton with a big gap in an early breakaway and they probably want to try that.
