Tweedaagse van Antwerpen - a preview

   Squiffinator

With an all Canadian squad we welcome Squiffinator as first entry of this first tour of the season. Tweedaagse van Antwerpen is a goal for the best cobbler of Canada, Bret Brunton. As Canada's number two rider he wants to claim first spot after this tour. With some nice results in cobble races last year and a win already this rider is ready for the challenge and will finish close in stages and General Classification.

   Die Tour Phantome

Die Tour Phantome signed up for the first stage, they want to do well there and get some points and money out of it. With some luck they can try to hang on for the remaining of the stages and finish in a surprising top nine place but, that is all bonus and not anticipated. Victory on stage one would be a successful tour.

   Hommerts Cycling Team

Sandijs Semerjaks is ready for Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. Will he be in topform and deliver Hommerts Cycling Team that much needed win. He could do it. He has a nice leadout team and they will guide him to the finish. The only thing lacking is some help during the cobbled sections, he has to do it on his own. He could do it. A possible winner of the General Classification.

   Rigana

Will Carmine Damiano defend his great performance from last season in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. He brings a decent team with him and he will be ready but, we believe that he will not be able to secure another great performance like he did last year. The competition is too strong for Damiano and besides a decent stage result we will not see him high up the ranks.

   YCO

With Ravis Rukmans we have a second Latvian that wants to defend his Latvian jersey. With topform and a great result in the pocket at Pre-Roubaix, this is a rider that can win both the Youth Classification and the General Classification. Keep an eye on him not only in Antwerpen but, also in the upcoming Roubaix Classic. Will these races jeopardize his tour aspirations. Only time will tell.

   Jonas Pro Cycling

Sigurd Guldhammer is the undisputed captain of this team. With some nice support riders for this team we see this rider finish high up the ranks in a few stages. He could even win a stage. His overall performance would not be satisfying as he will lose too much time in the first stage and that he will not make up in the cobbled sections. A top nine finish could be something that is expected.

   Greenride

With an armada of Bekooy's it is not a real challenge to see what the reason is that Greenride joined Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. He wants to annoy the piss out off every other

team manager around and secure a vital win. Pierre is his trump, with topform. Will he get a stage win or is it all in vain. It just takes one Bekooy to annoy, as they say.

   Team Tirilla

The best team of OCM has entered Tweedaagse van Antwerpen with home rider Thobias Pelsers. And his goal is simple. He wants to win this race and secure the national jersey. He could do it, this rider trained on the cobbles since he was a child and had to ride to school from his parent's farm over cobbled streets. He will secure a nice top three result.

   Team Majones

This timetrial team arrives in Belgium for only one stage. They want to win stage one and after that they do not care. They could claim a top nine finish in the General Classification but, that is not a goal, that is just a bonus. We put our money on Kacper Turnowski.

   Cykelmyggen

Cykelmyggen has entered Tweedaagse van Antwerpen to enjoy the thrill of riding a monumental event. His riders have no chance on the cobbled section to ride with the favourites and in the sprints they are gone before it starts. We will see these riders in the breakaway, as early as possible.

   Asymm Project

Kagiso April is in topform and will he be able to secure a first victory in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen for Asymm Project or, will he spend his fatigue in Roubaix. He should be able to do well in Antwerpen and he could even win a stage, or the tour itself. He is a decent rider but great when the streets have cobbles in them and he will be in front every stage, keep an eye on him.

   NECFTW

This team is not specialised in cobbles and will only participate to enjoy a victory on stage one. After that we will not see these riders in front anymore. Edvard Oien is capable of doing well in the prologue but the competition is too strong for him to actually win it. A top nine is all that is in store for him and NECFTW.

   Red Star

Will Dino Velloso be able to do well enough in the Tweedaagse. His abilities of the cobbles are not as good as his competitors but his leadout train is more then decent. Red Star can only hope for an off day of the other competitors or he will have to be pleased with an occasional top nine finish in the stage.

   Yuri SuperTeam

Another team that has only one goal, stage one. The timetrial is very much contested by many great time trial riders. Will we see a battle that leads to a time trial rider finish high up because the cobblers lost too much time. David Ballesteros is the man that should win the first stage for Yuri SuperTeam, with his new logo and jersey he did everything he could to boost team spirit.

Looks pretty North Korean though, so I doubt the quality is great.

   Comfius

Gaspar Sarrazin replaced Frank Dodge as captain of Comfius. With topform he rodes Roubaix Classic and Tweedaagse van Antwerpen and that could be too much for this team. If he was well rested then Sarrazin could secure a nice top three finish in the end. With so many races in his legs before the start we fear even the help of Frank Dodge can not help him to do well. A top nine finish is well within reach and points and money will be secured for this team.

   Opium Fueled

If we are talking about riders that can win something we should not forget Rodolfo Gomez, riding for Hong Kong based Opium Fueled he could secure a nice Youth Classification for this team. It would mean their second jersey but probably their most improtant one, as this is a rider they trained from scratch and groomed into the rider that he is now. They should bring him in topform next time, see what he can do then. High hopes for this rider and a shame he was not selected as a Young Gun.

   Nairobi City Cycling Club

Abraham Valladares will give a different look to Nairobi City Cycling Club. They are going for the stage win in another stage then a time trial stage. This Welsh rider is good when the road has cobbles in it. He will be able to secure some nice top nine results for this team besides the victory in the first stage. We should still expect his riders to be in top three positions for the first stage though.

   Luveaucek

Johannes Schoenmakers is the captain in the Tweedaagse, with Bogicevic his leuitenant. They will try to get a nice result in the second or third stage and work on some nice team spirit for the remainder of the season. A victory would be more then welcome and hoped for. It is realistic to think that their manager is not expecting it. Haute-Normandie is a bigger goal.

   peddelen

Will Lowell Shingleton be able to deliver another Tweedaagse victory for peddelen or will his departure news take its toll. With announcing the departure of this great rider, he surely damaged his will to ride his best for peddelen. Topform or not. Will he deliver another victory or is it time to give the scepter to the younger generation, Lowell Shingleton thinks not, he has topform. We think otherwise, no more Lowell in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen.

   Drapeau Noir

Will Cristobal Zubizarreta be the one that takes over. Spanish champion and runner up last year, while winning the Youth Classification. He is ready to win this race ahead of his fellow riders. With a more then decent team behind him that can guide him over the cobbles and give him an excellent leadout. A rider that will take only pride in winning Tweedaagse van Antwerpen again.

Very nice preview! You could have been right about Semerjaks but because of an injury he had at the end of s28 he will now miss TF on 1 point. Will be a hopeless tour for me. Hoping for a good prologue.
