Fast on Wheels - a preview
by Finz, at 2/6-14 - 23:17 GMT

The Danish tour Fast on Wheels starts soon and again many sprinters from division five have entered. We believe we will see an Asian winner this time but there are more contenders ready. The teams that entered are the following.

   team barolo

The winelovers from Norway have entered with Norwegian sprinter Rolf Nordi. He is more of an allrounder then a pure sprinter and he will have a problem chasing the pure sprinters for the victory. Stage four however should be the stage that suits him well and, that is the king stage. Can he secure an Generall Classification there, we will see.

   HOFC

American HOFC joined with a mixture of Americans and Europeans. Darius Podevin is his main trump and he should be able to get some points out of this tour. He is great on the flat roads and the hills but slow in the final kilometer. Maybe his other talents can help him score a win. He is a man to watch.

   NJ procycling

NJ procycling joined with Spanish sprinter Rogerios Merlo. The team itself is not very strong and even the riders are not the best you have seen. But with a pure sprinter like Rogerios and a home rider in topform, Jonathan Skibby, we can expect some surprising results for this team.

   Team Brecon

Team Brecon still has his Spanish roots in his team. Many Spaniards have stayed after the team's movement to Wales. For Fast on Wheels they have assembled a team that will try to be in an early breakaway and secure a nice result from there. The team can not expect much, I hope.

   Budapesti VSC

With Boronyak Tom we have a captain that is good in everything and can hang on with the best. Budapesti VSC relies on him as his captain and he can score a decent result. We do not expect a victory from him, he lacks that little bit more to be a winner but, he will finish Top nine in the General Classification.

   YellowFellows

With Bo-il Kung we meet our first South Korean superstar. This youngster from YellowFellows is ready to win the Youth Classification and tries to best that and winning the General Classification. He could be in topform when the race starts and when he is people should focus on him as a winner.

   Mark Pro Team

With Mark Pro Team we have our second South Korean team and, with Nam-jae Heo we have another superstar that wants

to win the Youth Classification and perhaps the General Classification. This rider will be in topform when the race begins and will be in front in all the stages. Is this the winner of Fast on Wheels, who knows.

   PRS

PRS from England have a decent sprinter with Harald Arndt. He has not won a race this season but he could win a stage in Fast on Wheels, if he is lucky. The team might have some top nine results in the stages. The lack of pure sprinter power will be the reason we will not hear much from them.

   Jet Black

The Fijian squad Jet Black is here with the national champion of Fiji, Eugen Nadruku, and the want to win stage one and five. We have reason to believe that they can win at least one of them, they have more then one rider available who can do it. Will it be enough to win Fast on Wheels or a jersey, only time will tell. A victory is expected.

   Adamastor

Adamastor was able to secure an invitation for Fast on Wheels and thankfully accepted it and joined. They will try to secure a victory by forming an early breakaway and take as much advantage as possible and outrun their competitors that way. They have no real chance in either a bunchsprint or the timetrial.

   nrk

All Norwegian team nrk is having young sprinter Petter Pettersen as captain and he is in topform for this tour. The team's team spirit is a bit low but with Petter's topform they could go for a triple. Generall, Youth and Sprint Classification, it would be a third time that would happen but, this rider can do it.

   Caixa Galicia

With Bartolomeo Galindez, Caixa Galicia wants to win a stage this tour. A pure sprinter with the power to overcome some steep terrain. He lacks technique which could cost him a good placing in the final kilometers but he would be able to fix that with his sprinting power. A stage win or some results could be very possible for this rider.

   Fissa

Back from, where was that actually, Fissa was able to enter Fast on Wheels and with Florentin Escalier as captain. This young rider does not look much but, he is a pure sprinter and with the flat roads in Denmark this rider should be noted as one that will score points in the sprintstages. A win would be too much asked for but, a result is possible.

   Hoosier State Cycling

  Orlando Wallace is the

captain of Hoosier State Cycling and he should bring them points and money during this tour. He is good enough on all kind of terrain and he will finish in a top nine position once or twice. He is not a sprinter though and this tour is for the sprinters, we will not see him on the podium and every point gained is a bonus for this team.

   Valerie Pro Cycling Team

The Chilean squad of Valerie Pro Cycling Team has in Placido Carballo a very decent sprinter and with the Chilean theme, has a good team spirit probably. Placido is capable of winning a stage and we will see him up front with the best. He will not win the tour but, a top nine result is very likely.

   Siete Villas

Siete Villas joined with a mixture of riders, they are keen on the two time trial stages for Kosma Lukasiewicz and Luigi Moretti. The other stages are not important for this team and they will probably use them as a stage to gain team spirit and secure a victory in the breakaway.

   WEST COLUMBIA

Felix Fencl is the star rider of WEST COLUMBIA. The Czech squad wishes that his rider can manage to join the fight for the sprintstages but, he really wants to do well in the timetrial stages. If he can keep up with the sprinters this rider could secure a nice result in the end of the tour.

   Team Drop It

Team Drop It enters with Arvid Strand, a very good sprinter and one that can win one or two stages for this team. The support he brings is fair and he can witstand the big sprinter because he is one himself. He could go for a Generall Classification or a Sprinters Classification. This rider could do very well in Fast on Wheels.

   teamgo

Herman Taranowski is the man for Cape Verdian team teamgo. He is supported by the best of Cape Verde and he should be able to secure a nice result in the king stage. In the end this rider will probably score some points and money. A real threat for the riders that want to win this tour he is not. They will have fun though.

   Ciclostil

Gert Coopmans is the Belgian that has to win races for Ciclostil. Will he be good enough to win races in Fast on Wheels. He could finish high in the rankings in one or two stages and maybe even score a result. He will not win a stage, his sprintingpower is great but the rest is mediocure and his team is not ready for this kind of event.

Good luck to all and, above all, have fun.

Great preview. Pettersen, Heo and Strand are the main contenders for GC, in my opinion. All 3 are young riders and one of them definitely takes YC too. Strand is a lot better in the sprint races than Pettersen or Heo, but both Pettersen and Heo will be in topform to compensate their lack in mainly technique.

This intentional dropping-leaving and coming back is becoming unfair.
