Tweedaagse van Antwerpen - a preview

   Cremtec

With Max Ballette, Cremtec has a very capable captain to ride the cobbled streets of Flanders. A homegrown rider with a more then decent track record. With a victory in Haute Normandy behind his name, this rider knows how to secure a victory in a cobble tour. He could do very good in his home tour with the supporters backing him.

   YCO

Canadian YCO has a decent team build around Canadian cobbler Travis Falls. Travis has not many achievements yet. Only three results including one win. That win was the division two classic Minsk CBGP and he could surprise the big favourites in a stage result. He should do it on his own because his team is not suitable to help him enough.

   Nairobi City Cycling Club

Ratko Cicic is the rider that should give points to Nairobi City Cycling Club. He has to do it in the prologue as he is a time trial rider 'pur sang'. He will lose too much time to play any major role in the General Classification but a victory in the first stage would secure him one day in the leaders jersey. Nairobi City Cycling Club could even have a few more riders in the top nine of stage one. Could he score a one, two, three?

   Team Majones

Team Majones is a rival of Nairobi City Cycling Club and has brought his own time trial riders. Young Rene Schimmel is the youngest with only twentyone years of age. His time trial potential is huge and he could go for the Youth Classification. With enough minutes in stage one he could lose time in the following stages to win it.

   Luveaucek

Czech team Luveaucek arrived with a team build around Vojislav Bogicevic. This very nice cobbler has already finished high in the Tweedaagse van Antwerpen before and even won a stage. Last year in Haute Normandie he was battling for the victory and just missed out on a victory in the first edition of this tour. We should expect some fireworks from this rider and he could finish on a respectable place.

   TACXkin

TACXkin is a respectable team that is always welcomed into the Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. Rogerio Echave is the reason for this and the best cobbler of Spain is again present as the captain of TACXkin. With victories in many cobble races and a Youth Classification victory in this very same tour, this rider should finally win a stage again and even finish in the top three of the General Classification.

   Jonas Pro Cycling

Jonas Pro Cycling has in Sigurd Guldhammer a really interesting rider. Danish and capable of finishing in front. With a nice performance in the Roubaix Classic prior to the Tweedaagse he showed he is in form. We believe that this rider could finish in the top nine in stages

and if he is lucky a top nine result in the General Classification.

   Rigana

Will his topform last, Carmine Damiano is in great form and he could surprise everybody if he can maintain his present shape. A disappointing Roubaix Classic for this rider could boost his will to do good in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. With a young and more then decent team Rigana could challenge this race for a few more seasons to come.

   Beardy Bikers

The French Beardy Bikers have a team that is filled with riders that are allround. The focus is mainly on getting over hills and finish close to the top places. If this tactic works on the Tweedaagse we could see Noa Vallee finish in a top nine position. But the cobbles on the streets in the stages would probably prove too hard for the riders to maintain a respectable position and we will not see these riders high up. Maybe the can surprise the other teams in an early breakaway.

   IndieRock

Adley Feeney is the captain of Italian IndieRock. This Englishman is still waiting for his first win but scored some results already in second and third division. He would love to be victorious in a stage at the Tweedaagse. IndieRock has provided some support for Feeney but it does not look like it is enough. We give them one or two top nine finishes in the stages but he will fall outside the top nine in the General Classification.

   Red Star

Will Dino Velloso be the captain to teach Bart?omiej Tokarz or is Bart?omiej the captain with support of Dino. We prefer to think the second thought as Bart?omiej Tokarz could end high up in the Youth Classification. With only twenty four years of age he has the future and is an overall better rider. Dino could try for a final attempt on winning a stage for Red Star in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen.

   Wizzyweb

Armando Francisquito is the rider for Wizzyweb to score a result. A more then decent time trial rider and his only shot on a result. The first stage is what he is after and he could even win it although we do not put money on it. A result that is what he can hope for. We will not see these riders in the following stages and they should be happy if they finish within the penalty time to start the next stage.

   Team Tirilla

Danish giant Team Tirilla is having in Thobias Pelsers a very good rider for this kind of work. With top three places in both Roubaix races this season already we can only say that this rider should be in front of the race. Maybe he could win a stage and probably finish high up the General Classification. His only flaw is his lack in time trial experience. This could cost him a victory as he loses too much time on stage one.

   Comfius

  Comfius has

young Englishman, Frank Dodge. He will be a rider that is eligable for the Youth and General Classification. His main focus should be the Youth Classification as he has the age for it and there are better riders that can win the General Classification. Will he be able to win it a second time after season twentysix or will there be others that are further.

   Asymm Project

Biggest rival of Frank Dodge is, Hozan Zardooz. The Iranian riding for Asymm Project is in topform and finished nice in Roubaix Classic. This rider could go for a double, Youth and General Classification. He has the focus, the technique and the power aswel as a decent team that can help him through the stages. As Hozan Zardooz is fairly new to the peloton nobody really knows what he can do but, it looks like he can do a lot.

   Yuri SuperTeam

David Ballesteros is the rider for Yuri SuperTeam and he will be played on stage one. A result there would already be a goal achieved. The other stages would probably see the riders in a breakaway or trailing behind as the team is not build for the cobbles. With a victory in Rome TT, David Ballesteros is already in great shape.

   peddelen

With three General Classification victories and topform, Lowell Shingleton is back in Tweedaagse van Antwerpen. With peddelen as team you can be sure to expect a very balanced team that can help Lowell Shingleton win a fourth time. Will he be able to do it again or is the team left behind by the others that have less experienced but, younger riders. Thirtytwo is not an age that is considered to be old. Recuperating would be harder though.

   The Killers

Radoslav Andrle is The Killers' captain and wants to win a stage. The General Classification is a sidegoal and with a stage win he will probably finish high. Stage two or three should be the stages that we can see this rider in front and with the team he could be able to secure a nice result.

   Drapeau Noir

Last season winner of both jerseys, Cristobal Zubizarreta is the rider to beat. Main rival of Lowell Shingleton and a battle between old and new. New already won once and are ready to do it again. This rider is number one favourite for the Youth Classification and, yes, number one favourite for the General Classification. Drapeau Noir is known for its tactic and it usually works. With two Tweedaagse van Antwerpen victories already he wants to get a third to match peddelen's record.

   Opium Fueled

Opium Fueled is the last team to enter and with Rodolfo Gomez the bring another Spanish cobbler. A more then decent team could give this rider a stagevictory. As he is only twentytwo he could win the Youth Classification perhaps, although a result there is more likely. Winning the Youth Classification would probably mean he wins the General Classification also.

Thanks for the preview. My objective is indeed the YC, but it looks like that can be the same as GC.

No Finz, no preview. Good for OCM that you make all this previews Finz. :)

Drapeau Noir at 14:40 27/3-2014
Without top form and with my best teammate injured (and therefore a drop in team spirit for everyone), I'm not the favorite anymore.
The GC will be much closer than last season.

Rigana at 15:04 27/3-2014
Well done Finz. The stages are high in tq, which suits Damiano. Lets see how it pans out.
