This season starts with a bang, not one but two new tours have been added in division three. We will give a small introduction of the races.

   Kangaroo Tour

The first race to be introduced is the Australian Kangaroo Tour. A five stage tour on the east coast of Australia. Starting in Gold Coast the riders have a prologue to ride along the coastline on the big boulevard. Stage two, three and four are three stages that can be used by the sprinters to gain bonification seconds for the Generall Classification. The last stage, around Sydney and finishing in the center of the town is one that could decide the outcome of the tour. A hilly stage that could see a new leader in the end.

   Giro di Montelbano

In honor of Sandro Montelbano, that is the slogan of the Giro di Montelbano. Located in Southern Italy in the Lecce area it is starting in Torre Vado with a difficult stage to San Cataldo. This could be the decider in the race but stage two is a timetrial in San Cataldo that could see a different leader after stage two. Stage three will see the riders move from San Cataldo to Montelbano in the town of Lecce. In Lecce the sprinters will battle for a deserved stage win. Special guest for the first edition is Sandro Montelbano himself, winner of seven Essex Tours.

  World Tour

  When

the World Tour starts it is not the races that are important but, the new managers. Some managers stayed with their team and some managers are replaced by new ones.
  The new managers are:

   Laos: depadvinders
   South Africa: Sparky
   Hong Kong: Limpid
   Germany: Team Boehringer
   Turkey: Manisaspor

Vietnam decided to decline its role in the World Tour. New nations are being added but which ones is not sure at this moment.

  Classics

   Alpe d`Huez Classic

The first classic of the season is always Alpe d`Huez Classic, the Top division classic with its finish line on the majestic peak of Alpe d'Huez. With an early breakaway the race took its familiar course and the big climbers could stay in the pack while their teammates controlled the race and did not let the escapees move to far away. When the riders reached to foot of the Alpe d'Huez, twenty one hairpin turns awaited them and it was the captains who moved up to the front. The breakaway was

already caught and the teammates dropped down from the front. With just five corners to go Samo Višòovský and Theodoor Holtslag were the only riders left. Theodoor looked to be the stronger one but when Samo attacked with four corners to go, he was not able to follow. Samo Višòovský was able to stay ahead and secured a very nice win for peddelen. Theodoor Holtslag finished second over one minute behind Samo. Brett Graham was third, three minutes behind the winner.

  1. Samo Višòovský, peddelen
  2. Theodoor Holtslag, Rode Stier
  3. Brett Graham, Drapeau Noir
