  World Champion

Silkeborg was host to the World Championships this season. The road race is one of the most important one day races in the season and some managers plan their complete season around it for one specific rider. Others fail in planning and deliver a rider in topform who will never be a favourite on this course. The course around Silkeborg was very challenging and the organizers should be proud. The first half of the race was treated with many breakaway attempts. Several riders did not want to finish with a complete pack of riders. These small groups were all caught by the big teams who had captains that wanted to win this race. But when the riders rounded Julso lake, two youngsters took off. Young Garami Gedeon and Brigham Garoutte from Drapeau Noir and Die Tour Phantome sprinted away from the peloton. They got company from Lowell Shingleton of peddelen who, due to bad planning, was in the form of his life and tried to make the best of it, knowing he would miss out on the cobble calender. As these three moved away from the peloton the others looked at each other not knowing whether they should catch them now or later.
Everybody makes mistakes, but there are mistakes and there are mistakes and, this was one of them. The two Brits and Hungarian worked well together and showed no sign of weakness. And when Silkeborg officials ran the bell for the last lap it was sure that the victory would go between these three. The two Brits were working together to lure the Hungarian into a trap, forcing him the lead. But instead of slowing down, Gedeon suddenly accelerated and left them behind, with more then a kilometer to go it was a bold move. Garoutte jumped after him bringing Shingleton in a comfortable position. Gedeon managed to stay away as the Brits were not able to catch him and he was cheering his heart out when he crossed the finish line. His first and Hungary's first world champion. Team manager Delion was overwhelmed by this victory. It was a great season for Drapeau Noir.

  Tweedaagse van Antwerpen

The four stage race Tweedaagse van Antwerpen has released their entry form today. Twenty teams have signed up to participate in the Belgian cobble tour. Last years winner is again signed up but, this time he is in another team and, as a teammate. Aaron Bailey moved from Team Revolutie to POM Wonderful, working with Reid Lenard was better then to not ride de Tweedaagse at all. Team Revolutie manager Michieltje made no secret of the fact he did not like Aaron Bailey one bit.
Youth Classification winner Frank Dodge returned also. Will he try to get another jersey this time or was he just lucky last season. We will see what the preview says.

  World Tour

  No race has been raced yet there is news from the World Tour. There are new managers appointed for existing nations and some new nations arrived or returned. A list of those who are accepted;

   Turkey: Trabzonspor
   Spain: Rupon CC
   The Netherlands: EricV
   USA: California Mist
   Argentina: ASADO Team
   Poland: AnnoDomini
   Switzerland: Herens Cycling
   Rwanda: VC Vortex

Belgium and Colombia also applied for manager change. Background checking revealed interesting information that requires some more investigation. Kazakhstan and Isle of Man have been taken off the list due to lack of funds with these national

teams.

  Classics

  Alpe d`Huez Classic

The first classic of the season is the might Alpe d'Huez Classic in the French Alps. Division one managers with one semi-decent climber in their team want to compete in this race. The French mountains towering over their heads are overwhelming and give a sense of freedom and humbleness when riding between them. The sheer power that is needed to overcome the torturing climbs is incredible. Can you imagine what the riders must feel who fight for victory. When on the last steep climb all power is drained from their bodies and they only move forward on pure willpower. Squeaking bones and grinding teeth is what you can hear when the fans should hold their peace for one second. But these riders are being pushed forward by the roaring cheers of them.
In the end it was Ejnar Rosenborg of Il Grillo who was best prepared and finished first, more dead then alive. Venancio Bento secured a second spot ahead of Drazen Cetnik.
