What happened this week
by Finz, at 14/10-13 - 09:28 GMT

We will kick off this week's edition with the Volta ao Porto tour:

The General Classification battle had a lot of contenders this season. At least every team had either send a great rider for the General Classification or the Sprint Classification but, it was Joppe Marant, the twenty three year old Belgian who beat English tour rider Fergus Harrold by only 2 seconds. The final podium spot went to an insane performance by Norwegian Tarjei Amundsen.

The Sprinting Classification had two main contenders,
Evan Topper and Franz Amelung, and they finished first and second respectively. It was a great fight from start to finish between these two riders. Fergus Harrold, who got second in the General Classification, got third here as well.

We continue this tour review with the Youth Classification. It was won by the winner of this year's tour,
Joppe Marant. He won by three minutes and twenty six seconds, beating Vergílio Nandigna and last year's winner Maruyama Dai.

Finally, we will finish with the unmentioned Time Trial stage winners.
THE DUTCHIES and Team Kernow went to battle in the three stages, and THE DUTCHIES won two stages while Team Kernow won one stage and the got third in the General Classification.

Joppe Marant: This rider has a very bright future indeed. He has already got a podium at Germany Tour, also getting second place in Youth Classification. He has participated in the Alpe d’Huez Classic twice and finished second twice. I wonder what he will do next.

Fergus Harrold: This rider started his career at Velo Club Bored Man, where he showed his potential as a tour rider. Before moving to EricV, he won Race of the Minuteman, got second and seventh in that same tour, second General and Youth Classifications at Fast on Wheels and ninth at Monte Rosa Tour. And finishing second in Volta ao Porto this time.

Tarjei Amundsen: He delivered his first results for his new team, Team Kernow, with his amazing performance in Portugal. He also got seventh in the World Championships and second for his nation, Norway, at the CoN Washington City TT race. We will hear more from this guy, I am sure of that.

Evan Topper: He has been entered in tours seven times. He was in Nederlandse Tour four times, Vuelta a los Castillos once, Essex Tour once and Volta ao Porto once. He got third in the General Classification in the thirteenth edition of the Nederlandse Tour once and now he has his first jersey.

Franz Amelung: This was his second time riding in the Volta, but he was riding as Captain. He got his second place by winning stage two and getting second in stage ten. He is only twenty three, and already proving himself to be a great sprinter. Should be another to watch out for.

Vergílio Nandigna: This rider has already had experience in tours, winning the Monte Rosa Tour Youth Classification and getting fourth in the General Classification as well. He also got three top nines for his national team, including a win for Cape Verde.

Maruyama Dai: The reigning General and Youth Classification winner, got eighth in General and third in Youth in this years Volta. He had a few off days during this tour, one of which was in the time trial stage, but he has plenty of time yet to win more tours, which he is capable of. He also has four results for his country Japan.

Now we will continue with the other tour of the week. It is the division three climbing tour Monte Rosa Tour:

  Last year's winner,
Tamati Lima entered again in top form and he beat Terada Kazuki to first place with twenty three seconds. Staas Grommers finished in the top three in the General Classification.

The other jersey up for grabs in this tour is the Youth Classification. The winner of the jersey was Japanese rider
Terada Kazuki. He beat Harlington Tlhomelang and Hartmann Sadolin by a minute and a half and two minutes nine second respectively.

Tamati Lima: He has sixty one results and of those are twenty two wins, six results for New Zealand, three tour wins, five top nines in a General Classification at tours and eighteen results have been from tours alone. He is a great rider, and he will continue to win.

Terada Kazuki: This rider from Japan, who never had a result before this tour, got five in one go. His best effort before this tour was an eighth place at Wels GP. But he is only twenty three years old and has plenty of time to get a lot of results.

Staas Grommers: He has entered three tours in total, once in Perm and twice in Monte Rosa. He got a fifth place in the climbing stage at Perm, and eighth in the General Classification at Monte Rosa. Now he added a podium place to his results, with a fine effort in this season’s tour.

Harlington Tlhomelang: He made his debut in tours, with a superb ride in Switzerland. Even though

he was one hundred and third place in the prologue, he managed to climb his way back into the top five in the General Classification, and finished second in the Youth Classification. Not bad for his first time in tours.

Hartmann Sadolin: This rider is made for tours and even though he is only twenty four years old, he has already been in Fast on Wheels Tour, Perm Tour and now in Monte Rosa Tour. In his first effort he got four top nine's, in his second he got eighth in the General Classification and now, in Monte Rosa, he’s got another eighth in General Classification and third in the Youth Classification.

  The
transfers of the week are next on the agenda:

We will start off with the 400K transfer of
Fabio Sosa. He left his old team Galliano4827, after the team went inactive, and was brought by Nairobi City Cycling Club. He should have a good future there.

Next on the list is the climbing time trial rider
Sten Hållkvist. The twenty nine year old moved to his new team THE DUTCHIES for a total of 250K from his old team Twente Cycling Team. He will be looking for some more results in tours in this team.

Angel Ulloa. The name rings a bell in the forum. He was bought for 240K from Rintin Team and is now at KAS KASKOL. I am not going to say anymore, because there is enough on the forum.

  Dutch twenty two year old
Johannes Kreder, is a superb 208 point climber. He is now racing for Rode Stier after he was sold by DCM for a sum of 232K.

  For 215K, the young Italian
Benito Falconio is now racing for manager Slico, and his team sprint4live. He moved from conero cycling team, and he is already a 227 point time trial rider. One to watch for sure.

Isac Tingmann, one of the best time trial riders of all time, has moved teams, from THE DUTCHIES to his new team rooney17, for 190K. The Dane still has life in him, and will be looking to continue his career scoring points and getting results.

  Another aging time trail rider,
Gerhard Michala, continues his career at disco cycling after being transferred from Honor et Patria for 180K. He has 55 results and will be looking to improve on that at his new team.

  Honor et Patria recently signed
Udo Grau for 170K from Team Albatros. He is not special, but he certainly got results for his old team, and got a couple of then in the Fast on Wheels tour. Not a bad buy.

Finally we will finish this week’s edition with
Jurriaan Reiling. He moved from WestPomeranian to FFL for 190K. He does not have a lot of results, but he has done well for his country and done well in tours. Being thirty, he still got a few more seasons in him.
