Nederlandse Tour - A preview
by Finz, at 5/3-13 - 23:25 GMT

Twenty teams are challenging each other again in the Netherlands.
Can Tadaki Ko repeat defend his title from last season or will there be another winner this time. The last stage will give an answer to that, when the riders finish in Amsterdam. Six stages through the Netherlands will decide this.
Five of them are as flat as a pancake. Only the fourth stage is having an identity crisis. That stage believes it is a mountain stage.

In Groningen the riders are treated to a short prologue. A very technical one through the city. Riders with hopes for the General Classification should finish up front. Every second is crucial in this tour.
Stage two is a flat race to the eastern part of the Netherlands. The only technique is needed in the end. The finish in Hengelo is in the center and the riders need to make a few sharp turns in the last kilometers. It will end in a bunchsprint with the most courageous rider as winner.

  Stage

three will go to Eindhoven, the city of light. Flat, flat, flat. There is one bump in the course. Because the riders are riding through a tunnel and they have to get out of it again. The finish is on the Keizersgracht and will be filled with the enthusiastic people from the South.
From Eindhoven we go to Maastricht. A stage extraordinaire because it is filled with humps and bumps and climbs and descents. Not a sprinter will win this one.
But a very tough rider that feels at home in the hills will take the flowers home to the misses. But the one sprinter that will finish close might win the race in the end.
Stage five will start in the middle of the Netherlands, in Utrecht. This is the most easy part of the race.
If a rider looses time in this stage he is either sick or stupid. No technique is needed, it is all flat and the finish line in Rotterdam can be seen from 5 kilometers distance. The roads are so wide, 120 riders can

almost ride next to each other. Only the last kilometer is interesting. Who will sprint to the victory.

Finally stage six. The final one, the parade. Riders are almost sure who will win the tour. There might be a breakaway attempt. But we all know, in the Netherlands only sprinters will win and the breakaway will not succeed. This parade race will end in Amsterdam, at the famous Dam square. The riders will position their sprinting captains up front and the guys will challenge each other for the final win.

The best sprinter will win this tour and will be the successor of Tadaki Ko and many more great winners. Will it be the old but cunning Lean Ahnfeldt-Mollerup (ABK) or Philip Plagge (ultrajectum). Tadaki Ko (Hommerts Cycling Team) is ready to defend his title. And there is darkhorse Damaria Barba (Luveaucek). If you think there is a better one, leave your comments below!

I have never had so low hopes in any of the tours I entered... I usually underperform.. So this time maybe the other way around?
