Bukarest - Sinaia
In Bukarest all the riders were keen to defend their nations colours.
The top eighteen are starting their second race in the World Tour, because England and Germany failed to sign up.
Romania is the host of this venue. From the capitol city of Bukarest the route goes to the mountain resort of Sinaia.
And before the riders enter the Prahova river valley to finish here they must pass through the Bucegi Mountains.
It was a great race that was marked by an early break away of seven riders.
When the group reached the mountains around Sinaia they still had a comfortable lead.
But the big climbers started the get in front of the peloton and started chasing them. While the lesser climbers in the peloton fell behind
the breakaway was | | reeled in by the big climbers.
In Sinaia we saw the Romanian favorite Anghel Naidin take the trophy as he used his local experience well to ride away from the leaders.
He finished well ahead of Portuguese captain Gilberto Morais and Bernardo Mejia from Spain.
Classica Verona
In Veneto the teams are ready for the fourth Classica Verona. Withouth the presence of Slovakia, Jamaica and Wales seventeen nations battle for victory.
Unlike the race in Romania in Verona the group was immediately treated to the mountains that are around Verona.
The race was hard and the weather was not what we can expect at this time of year. This made racing in Northern Italy a huge task.
In the end only the best climbers prevailed.
| | Sigurd Lange of Norway was the entire race comfortably in the lead.
And it was no surprise that he took a great victory in Verona where he arrived alone and a few minutes ahead of number two.
Fabian Sauer was the best of the rest as he outsprinted his fellow chaser in a sprint a duex leaving Angus Whitlock behind on place number three.
In other news; all the tours are suited with an appropriate jersey.
Fast on Wheels, Monte Rosa Tour, Vuelta a Castillos and Tweedaagse van Antwerpen can now be viewed in your palmares if you have won those.
