Season 21 - a recap (Part 3)
by Yuri, at 25/9-12 - 23:34 GMT

Season 21 is over, and as usual i time for a review! We decided that this time we don’t want to make a huge article. So we’re making 4 articles divided in Tours, Top division classics, 2nd division classics and extras! Now it’s time for the 2nd division classics! Drama, amazing management and big surprises. We have it all in here! Bring in the classics!

Day 9 - Many may still remember Nico-Jan Stubbe (WV De Dommel) victory last season! But this time Stubbe wasn’t present and the victory in Ainet - Bruggen was open for any climber with faith in his heart! Faith is what 2 rider had during almost the whole race! Bartoli Edo (HC Alpine), an almost unknown rider for many and an extraordinary climber for others and Isidor Spoelberchs (Alpha Plus), a talented “oldie”. They started to think that the race would be decided between them, when they saw the rocket Fido Fernandez (adamo1999) riding past them to win it! Edo finished 3rd and Spoelberch 2nd. We’re sure we’ll see more from Edo in the future despite his age. Pay attention!

Day 15 - Oldest race in OCM, biggest classic in OCM, Vejle-København never had the recognition it deserves. It’s the biggest classic, because it’s open for teams from division 1 to 3. Its importance it’s out of question to discuss! Looking at the Top9 you will immediately understand it’s importance! Cadman Kantor (thedutchies) pointed, as usual, as a possible winner, finished 3rd in front of big names like Clarence Caraway (Team airik) and even Rytis Kondrotas (Red Star). Another big star was Brian Hitchens (Tokyo Bikes), who moved later on to Jonas Pro Cycling. he finished 2nd and his status has grown to another completely new level. He’s the dream for any Top manager! the big winner on the other hand, is a well known rider for many managers. So far he has a big classic win to talk about (Helsinky GP) and had hell of a start of the season. His name is Guilherme Rios and he’s the 2th winner from Vejle-København!

  Day 20 -
Time for Zyte to have their cobble classic

and what a race it is! Maybe a harder “jungle” than the Top division similar races, and only a true Tarzan can survive the cobbles! Who was him this season? Samuel Cullen (Team Jayco) went to the podium for the first time ever, and we could easily see him nervous when receiving the kisses from the beautiful Belarusian babes. Alexis Terrier (TACXkin) finished 2nd after a close fight with Jean-Pierre Van de Put (CARCYCL). First ever victory for him... And what a victory!!!

  Day 35 -
This “mythical” sprinting classic is almost at the same level from the top division classics for many managers! Winning Mito - Torkyo is almost like winning in Norwich or Helsinky. Cadman Kantor (thedutchies) had a hell of a season and he was feared by everyone present! He finished 3rd which is not that bad, but for him it’s not that good since he’s pointed out to be the beast successor. With this results... Is he really? Erik De Kelper (Rabo utrecht CT) made his best season so far, and this 2nd place was his best result ever! Looking at his skills and the guys he beated this is amazing! What can he show us more? Hope to see him on top again, soon! The big winner is almost at the same situation from Kelper. But his future perspectives are bigger. Cody Bellamy (team tdb) won the classic everyone want’s to win and this makes me think. Who can beat him next season?

  Day 54 -
Classic period in Zyte division! And it starts in Finland with Lappi Sea GP! With so many hills, there are always surprises! Tobias Blanco (Scorpions POPRAD) is a clear sign of that! Amazing 3rd place from the spaniard! In fact this was not the only surprise in the race. Not even the biggest! Nick Jesser (Cremtec) admit it! He’s completely unknown managed to BA soon in the race, save some energy in the end and almost won the race! Who’s him? Well he’s here. Unfortunately due to some health problems he was forced to retire. Let’s hope everything is ok with him know! The winner is Andreas Mayer (The Doomsday Bunnies)! This really show us that you need to be good in everything to succeed here! A sprinter last season

and now an all rounder. Who comes next?

  Day 56 -
Just after the Finnish classic, it’s time for the french one. Grasse - Toulon is a race for the sprinters!... Wait, is it really? Tadaki Ko (Team Caridade) finish 3rd brilhian future for him! What a rider. Only 3rd? Something strange must happen. Was it some familiar problems? let’s hope not. Sven-Erik Häggberg (Simoni crew) proved that you need more than sprinting skills to succeed here and managed a great 2nd place right behind Didrik Jønsen (Dingetjes). Amazing skills, young age, good haircut. Everything a manager needs from his riders! We’ll see you in the future Mr. Jønsen that’s for sure!

  Day 70 -
Finland receives the 2nd classic from the season. Well 3rd if you count the Top division stage. This time it’s a sure one for the sprinters, but who? Some are already thinking about the Nederlandse Tour while others focus here. The young young Cobus Rijkaard (Pomada) got a brilliant 3rd place! What a bright future he’ll have and what a way to start! Bring in his first victory! Tadaki Ko (Team Caridade) finish 2nd here in his last race ever. The team was shut down and all the riders retired (except Tadaki Ko who moved to Lusitano and some others) due to some serious problems inside the team involving everyone in a long and hard process in the courthouse. The accusation? Too much “caridade” (charity) in some businesses. Salvador Yocemento (nonnies) is a name you must remember in the near future! This talented youngster has the skills many champions had in the past. And what that gave him? The victory in the last classic of the season! Many congratz for him and his manager! You found a gemstone here for sure!

Now, this were the Classics from the 2nd Division in Season 21. How will it be on the 22nd? Good luck to everyone, and let’s write more history!

  Stay tuned for more reviews...
