Season 10 Awards Ceremony
by Nick (Team Atlantic), at 10/1-10 - 12:18 GMT

The inaugural OCM Awards ceremony took place last night in Madrid attended by the leading lights of the professional cycling community.

The red carpet was rolled out for the finest cyclists in the world to celebrate the top performers of the season, as voted by the team managers.

Rodney Hodgson of Team Atlantic was voted as the Best One Day Rider, after a stunning season which saw him jump to the top of the individual rankings.
A second consecutive Green Jersey and two stage wins at the Germany Tour, a classic in Helsinki and 5 other top flight victories including Milano-Torino and the LA Pursuit ensured he lifted the title ahead of Ralf van Bon and Fergal Lemire.

The Best Tour Rider Award went to Solomon Henschel of Team Whalers after an astonishing season which saw the Canadian time-trial sensation win both the Essex and Perm Tours and feature prominently at Germany.

Henschel, now ranked 4th in the World, was also nominated in the One Day category thanks to individual TT victories in Rome, Parla and Bucharest. Edwin and Backe won the silver and bronze prizes for their respective performances in stage races last season.

Ralf van Bon picked up the title of Best Breakthrough Rider ahead of Gerald Karda and Rodney Ruble. The Flying Dutchman had an amazing season which saw him leap to second in the rankings ahead of seasoned pros.
His performances at the Germany Tour, especially his inspirational TT victory and running battle with Hodgson for the Green made it a race to remember. Other successes in Norway and France have proved his pedigree as one of the top dogs on the pro circuit.

Oscar O'Turnbull of Team Hurricanes was deemed the Comeback Rider of Season 10 after his transfer from Atlantic. The Scottish TT ace picked up wins at Casa Vitoni, San Ciprello and Asane along with numerous

places in prestigious events to re-ignite his career.
An excellent season's racing has seen him rise the rankings to Scottish No.1 and just outside the World top ten.

The Best Team Award was shared between Atlantic and FFL, with Airik in 3rd place. The world's top ranked teams both had great seasons to break Snyltarane and Pablo Ibanez's stranglehold on the title.
FFL's highlight was the development of the top 2 riders in the World, Dorsher and Holt, and the continued performances of Lannoye, Rowzee, Pardo.
And Atlantic's success was due to Hodgson's prolific sprinting and other fine victories including Toliver's Antwerpen-Huy.

And the award that nobody wants to win, the Most Disappointing Rider, went to Elias Marquez of Team Weeny.
The 3-time Germany Tour winner won narrowly ahead of Nico Holt and Chris Dell. Marquez remarked, in the voice of the Terminator "I'll be back!"
